I have a toilet duck disposable-head toilet brush. The refills are a little expensive but I cut them in half and get twice as many out of a packetIf you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0

I too have a loo brush but regularly sit it in a bucket of water/bleach solution along with the base and then bleach out the bucket afterwards [the bucket isn't used for anything else] Have loo cleaner and have just started using the denture cleaning tablets in the cistern after reading the tip on here:D

Yes I use a toilet brush with bleech and rinse with the flush as others have said.
I didn't know you could get them with interchangable heads.0 -
Yuck! Don't use one, just bleach or loo cleaner.0

we have a few 'guests' who enjoy 'using the bathroom' at other peoples houses - in fact, I have to vary the reading material in the loo every week or so, so they don't get bored. I swear my DH and his friends are still teenage boys...
... at least they make the effort to clean up after themselves I guess!
I always think that you can tell a lot about a person by the state of their bathroom. I use a brush and plenty of bleach, in fact I probably use far too much and far too often, but I just cannot use a dirty toilet. Don't make me, plse!!! :eek:Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

In our house, we have modern design toilets and they seem to get a lot dirtier than traditional ones. I guess when someone designed them, they don't really think about the actual logistics!
I clean my toilets with a combination of bleach (for the bowl) and antibacterial toilet wipes (I always get these on special and they last for ages) for the rest of the toilet. The toilet brush is the quick fix if I'm having people round or something really bad has occurred!MFW 2019 #61: £13,936.60/£20,0000 -
Each time I pass Ikea I pick up a 39p special for each loo.....its just an excuse to go in of course, and spend more money!0

We have one but don'e really use it, a regualr daily cleaning seems to keep the toilet looking good, but there are times when the brush is called for.........afterwards it is cleaned with bleach and we regularly replace it through out the year.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. I use a cheap toilet brush from Ikea and replace it every six weeks or so. I put the brush in the loo when I flush the bleach or loo cleaner away and add a little bleach to the base of the brush stand. How else can you get rid of smears, if you don't use a brush? I put a squirt of thick bleach or toilet cleaner (never the two together of course) round under the rim before I go for a shower and brush the loo out quickly after I've showered, flush and that's it. The rim gets done seperately with a spray of cleaner on a cloth.
Once a week though I get the rubber gloves on and give everything a good scrub right down round the bend with cleaner, loo brush, old toothbrush for under the rim (clearly marked as for loo only!!) cloth and cleaner for outside and round the base. Gawdsakes, it's been flushed before I start and it's only a bit of pee and poo. There are more harmful bacteria on the cloth you use to wipe your kitchen surfaces over the course of a day, you know. And you really do have to get into the corners round the fixings and under the rim if you want your loo not to smell and for that, you need a brush and elbow grease. Just putting cleaner down it and flushing only gets half the loo clean.Val.0 -
I have a loo brush, it's absolutely years old. I stick the brush and holder in a bucket full of hot water and soda crystals every few weeks and it comes out entirely like new every time so I never felt the need to change it yet. Is it 100% sterile? Soda crystals do kill bacteria pretty well, but provided it looks and feels clean I'm not too worried about it being actually completely germ free because that would be kind of pointless considering where it goes. It's a loo brush, it exists to be stuck down the loo and only do that. It's whole purpose is to be the only item you contaminate by using it in the loo so that you don't spread germs around the house when cleaning.0
