Thanks, I am over the moon... However they want me to start on the 6th , I said I need two weeks notice. Do you think I should phone them and get it extended (ie start later) or just hand my notice in for my place of work now and hope for the best? They can't muck my referance up if I leave in just over a week can they? Its says subject to satisfactory references in the letter...0

Well done PAP :T
I'll have to start looking this weekend.
Washing in, another load waiting, need to check tide times for a run on the beach, going to clear out pots and dig manure in the garden - joy. Going out for a drink tonight with a friend who is lovely as a friend but a bit smitten with me! (insert confused smiley)

No, they can't do anything with your reference - it's actually illegal to put something untrue on a reference. The worst they can do is refuse to give you a reference but I think that's unlikely
I would put your future employer before your current one!Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0 -

I'd discuss it with both parties and see where that leaves you. NOBODY in their right mind gives a bad reference these days, the only option open to them is to refuse to give you a reference. Basically if they write something bad that causes you to not get the job you can sue them!!
I'd just suggest you try to be fair to both parties. They can't really ask for any more than that.

Thanks to both of you, you have put my mind at rest regarding the referenceHowever my current emplyer asks for 4weeks. The union says it doesn't really matter but I chosse 2 weeks as thats meeting half way. I think 8 days is pushing it really
I know I need to try and look willing to my future employer but I want to leave on good terms with this one. I shall leave a message with the new one and see what they say  Thanks all
