Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 27th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning everyone.
Hopefully you are all having a lie in. I've been awake since 5.30am and have given up trying to get back to sleep. Feel lousy with a cold so am nursing a coffee and will take some paracetamol in a mo. Enjoying the silence of the family sleeping. If it didn't make me so tired I'd get up extra early most days just to enjoy the quiet time :D

Leaving H with the kids whilst I head off to local town for some retail therapy. Need some new underwear and I am not going shopping this time with the kids in tow. I do it most of the time and it's a nightmare. DS and DD just get bored so they can stay at home with daddy whilst I shop to my leisure. Just hope I don't flag before I get there :o I am sure coffee and drugs will keep me going for a bit :rotfl:

Tea tonight will be cajun chicken so I need to make some tortilla's. Also want to try some cinnamon buns that Thriftlady made on her blog yesterday. It's a pity we can't post more pics on the daily of what we've cooked/baked. I do love pics of food :rotfl:

I hear DS making noises so I guess my peace and quiet is shattered.

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good Saturday, hope it's not too damp where you live!

Morning Bitsy & all who cross & follow
I've been up since 4:30, need to cook breakfast & take hubby to his Saturday job at 7:30, then I'm also going shopping, but only to Screwfix, nothing exciting.
Only a few more days at work then it's the Easter break & I only have to do a few hours, woohoo, I ready for some time off.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Screwfix IS exciting :p Just think about all the power tools :rotfl:
By the time I've battled in the car park and with the other shoppers my trip will be anything BUT exciting. Stressful more like :o

Morning, everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining you here :) I've been up since 4:30am as DH not getting enough sleep and I have an awful cough. Feeling guilty about keeping him up, but hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight.

Not got an awful lot planned today. A friend is coming over for a little while and it'll be good to see her. I shall have to portion up the spicy chicken stew (basically a jambalaya base without the rice or bacon) and freeze it - I think we'll have some tonight, too, with some crusty bread and potato wedges. I don't feel like doing any more cooking yet! I've been scouring food blogs looking for lovely recipes to try and have found one or two that I shall put into upcoming mealplans.

Oh, and I have to do a little cleaning at some point too. Just a scrub around the kitchen and bathroom, so nothing majorly taxing. I'm trying to get back into the OSiness after a break, so I'm doing all I can.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning early birds, weather is looking fair to middling at the moment ,but forecast is rain .I'm off up to London today for the day.My sis-in-law is coming with me and we are going on another blue-badge walk with my Uni class. They really are great fun and so informative.we shall be strolling around Spa fields and Islington for a couple of hours. Then back to the west end for some lunch and maybe some shopping .
The sun is out at the moment here in North Kent but it seems a bit too bright if you know what I mean.Still I'm sure we will have a good day no matter what.
I am hoping to make a huge vat of carrot and coriander soup tonight when I come home to use up the coriander that I was given I do like that soup its so easy to make and freezes very well.Right time to get a wriggle on and jump in the shower.Hope everyone has a good day and remembers to change the clocks forward tonight

Morning All & welcome Kitchenbunny

    Enjoy your shopping trip Bitsy.

Its Saturday and the sun is shining :j

Am ignoring paperwork and having a housework day, quite looking forward to it  Aim is to get everywhere shipshape today then concentrate on a couple of rooms each week for a deep spring clean. So will be using loads of stardrops, vinegar & possible bicab. Full OS points for me today ;)

Have some leftover chicken in the freezer so think will make curry tonight, was meant to be on the menu plan for next week but OH is on nights and doesn't like eating curry before work.

Nothing much else planned this weekend, may pop somewhere nice with the dog and kids if the weather stays like this but thats about it.

Better get dressed now and get going, hope you all have a great Saturday.x

    Morning all

Love and hugs to those who are sad or poorly.

Wet and overcast here, such a shame after getting two loads of washing line dried yesterday! The rain set in late yesterday afternoon and has been on and off since.

Had lovely afternoon yesterday DS1's school had a "target setting day" so he was off and we went to school for an appointment that lasted 10 minutes but was quite productive and he's making real progress in all areas. He has now realised that you have to put the effort and work in to get results! He's also realised what rubbish daytime television is and was bored by 9am yesterday morning! So he offered to help me with my baking/cooking and we spent a good couple of hours together in the kitchen, I found my cooking/baking time theraputic (sp?) but was nice that he takes an interest (until it was time to wash up anyway). We made 2 doz cup cakes, choc chip cookies, bakewell tart and lemon curd tarts. Also made a loaf of bread but most of that was eaten with dinner last night which was spag bol. Need to organise something for dinner tonight so we don't end up having take-away.

OH gone into work this morning so will get last bit of washing, drying and ironing done and put away, so we can crack on with glossing once he gets in. Have a nice leg of lamb from the butchers for roasting tomorrow, this will be the last roast I cook at home for a while as once we start going away weekends I don't cook roasts in the caravan, so will enjoy it. We're going away for Easter and I'm really looking forward to it as it's a nice area of the country.

Not much other OS to report, have a great weekend everyone.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Hello Super Saturday OS ettes, :hello:

Nice to join you all as usual.

Nothing like a dose of Drug to feel human Bitsy - hope your day improves healthwise.

    Welcome Kitchenbunny.

Talking about bunnys, mine (Soggi) is scampering around the house in full 'naughty mode' before being posted into her outdoor hutch for the day where she dreams of wild bucks & babies.

Sun is making an effort. Off to shops with OH when he arrives. Got to try & enlarge an A4 sheet (of the Graveyard - long story!) so will go & pick the brains of the ladies at the library where they have a posh photocopier.

OS moneysaving for today mmm..... I've put a drop of cheap bleach on a 2nd hand pretty plate I bought to brighten it up. Hope that counts.

Be happy everyone & will pop by later.:):):)

Morning everyone , absolutely stunning morning up here near Inverness, not a cloud in the sky and my washing, that has been out on the line for the past two days, looks like it may be dry by lunchtime.

Wanted a quiet shift at work yesterday and had a mare, loads of trains late for no apparent reason and just lots of niff naff and trivia, soooo hopefully a quiet shift today then? Two days left then off for a week and staying with gf. :-)

Off for first coffee of morning, have a good day everyone. Talk soon.

    Morning all,

Its a bit dull weather wise at the moment, I hope it will brighten up a bit later on, I have one load on the line, and two more to go out, could do with a nice drying day.

OH has gone to work, and dd is on a sleepover, so its just me and little dog here, and she is still in bed :rotfl:so nice and quiet, I am going to make myself a bacon sandwich, and more tea, and have a browse on here for an hour :D, I will then take myself up to dd's room and commence the sanding down of the walls and ceiling, I may even get a coat on them today.

Dinner tonight will be some smoked mackerel pate, with salad and bread and butter, will make it later and put it in the fridge , dd will have something veggie from the freezer with salad.

Welcome kitchenbunny, its good here :D

Ok bacon calling, have good days all xx
