07744 on O2

Hello

Have a contract with O2 via mobileshop.com. Until last month was not charged for 07744 nos but as of July they started charging me for that at the rate of (roughly) 25p/min. I do remember someone bring this up but I thought it only referred to certain packages - having received no notice about it I thought these calls were going to remain free. Any advice?

I believe all O2 tariffs charge for 07744 now. Many people have successfully cancelled their contracts early because of this.

Actually, it isn't apparent that many people on that thread have cancelled because of this, or even want to.

Many landline and some mobile destinations are still available via 0844 numbers that are included in the O2 contract; 0871 numbers are not inclusive though. See the MSE Callchecker for providers.

If you call foreign mobiles a lot, then on O2's ITS option, calls are 17p per minute for most of Europe. Or you could get an easyMobile SIM on one of their almost permanent special offers, and either use that via an 07744 provider, or divert it to one of these then call it from your O2 phone

You're right, it isn't apparent in the linked thread. I should have mentioned that I was referring to the dvd forums thread where there has been many successful cancellations.

Just thought that I would tell you that I made a call to an Australian landline only yesterday using 0774 - the cost came out of my payg free minutes,(the ones you get for topping up by at least £10).

I tested first by a quick call to the carrier number to see if any credit was used as I am still waiting to be charged for 07744 calls.
I have read so many posts saying that this would happen,(firstly on June 1st - then on July 1st).

I believe on 02 Payg for some reason on the inclusive x-net minutes that you get when you top up by £10 or more. O2 are not charging if you call 07744 numbers. Probaly an error on the billing system.

PS. Your not allowed to post individual 07744 numbers here unless you quote a source.
