of the brown sticky stuff we were given by the spoonful when we were kids (only over forties probably). it was in a big jar and I keep wanting to say it was cod liver oil but it wasn't - it was the consistency of thick honey or treacle and tasted really quite nice and sweet. i think we were given it to "build us up". it's really bugging me that I can't remember the name

yuk - malt extract definitely - my older sisters used to hold me down & force feed it to me.... (no idea why)!
