Well I supposed they'll keep him busy - sounds like you have enough to keep you occupied! Its not nice though being apart, could you get down to spend time with him if he does get somewhere to rent???

Am planning on going up for a few days when he gets somewhere - will take him loads of stuff up in the car (basic foody things, probably bedding etc) - but with the children it's not an option except in the hols :( we're going to go places whilst up there like Whitley(?) Bay - should be fun! Can't say I'm looking forward to the drive - about 5 hours....

Looking forward to tomorrow when he does come home though!

Just been on online banking and transferred £20 to mtge - £10 musicmagpie and £10 tax credits. Think I'll set up a sto for tax credits money, 'cos I'll keep forgetting about it - a weekly credit is annoying! I asked for 4 weekly on paperwork (I just checked the copy) but it took so long for them to agree a payment that I don;t want to rock the boat!!

Almost August and the start of a new month for OPs :)

Hi Greent - must be hard with OH working away during the week. However, if he comes home at weekends, have you thought about a Monday to Friday let for him? I just thought I'd mention it as I have a week-only lodger in my spare room - it works fine for him, as his rent is all inclusive and it means I have my house back to myself at weekends. It can work very well - I used a web-site called MondaytoFriday, although I think most of the properties on there are in London, it might be worth checking?? Anyway, just a thought - the people who came round to look at my room commented that generally the places on the web-site were nicer than places they'd seen elsewhere..QB

Hi QB - yes - have tried MondaytoFriday and fivenights.com and easyroommate.com (that one sounds dodgy but isn't!!) and some others - some people aren't responding to his emails - I think he's too old for their preferred flatmate (at 40!!). Some places have jsut been a nightmare for transport - he's not working in the centre, so needs somewhere on a direct bus/ metro route. And one was dirty. There is a good place - but not available until 23rd Aug - which is a pain, as we're away for a long weekend over the B/Hol and then the children start back at school on the 2nd so we wouldn't get up there, I don't think :(

It'll all get sorted eventually :-) In the meantime, I must do his expenses paperwork - I looked at our current a/c last night and he paid for the hotel etc out of there!!:wall:

Well, we dropped DH off at the train station again earlier. I have set myself a list of things to do for the week, some related to money, some not: :)
    1. finish my SA tax return (should result in a wee tax rebate, I think)
    2. start DH's tax return (long & complicated - will result in a large tax bill!!)
    3. do DH's expense claim for July
    4. start DH's expenses for August - ongoing - keep up to date!
    5. do business account online banking
    6. make optician's appt for 3 children
    7. give blood!
    8. take DD to get braces fitted (pay money out :()
    9. deal with ebay items that finish later this week (hopefully money in!!)
    10. list 10 new items on ebay
    11. do some more baking with the children - fun & more MSE than buying goodies
    12. rub down and paint a small area in DD's bedroom
    13. clear one box of junk from DD's ensuite
    14. increase mtge DD payment wef Sep?
    15. do all the surveys as I get the invitations (easier when DH is away!)
Mtge payment with regular OP going out tomorrow. Looking to make a further OP at the end of the week if possible :) Would like to make £200 in further OPs this month - but we'll see... Quite an expensive month (braces, few days away, BF's 40th, our anniversary, school uniforms/ shoes)

Right - off to read some diaries and then maybe get back to my tax return....

hmmm...not loving tax returns, you could procrastinate with making a cup of tea and a biscuit- usually works for me! ...hmmm..now I could procrastinate too just thinking of it, may make a cuppa myself and then plough on with reading some diarys and updating mine for inspiration and motivation!

must be hard having DH away all week, I know I read thru your diary but cant quite remember the situation- will it be long term or just for the moment? hope you can get something sorted for him that is less disruptive and allows you all to settle into some kind of routine at least even if the situation isnt ideal..

LOL tyo! I did procrastinate with a cuppa - and a bowl of profiteroles! :D However, my tax return is all done (except for submission) - and I'm due the princely sum of £7 back ;) I'm not starting DH's tonight - his needs lots of time and a more awake brain!

He's away Sun-Fri for 3 months (maybe more) It's not ideal, but it's not the end of the world and isn't for long. Thankfully DS2's first day at school is a Friday, so he'll take that day off (a day off is a day of not getting £400+VAT pay - so it's not a whimsical thing to do!) and I'll try and schedule in some other stuff that day, like an appt with the accountant, a blood test that DH needs at the GPs (diabetes) etc. He won't miss any of the children's birthdays in that time - although he will spend his own up there... :( - we'll just celebrate it on the Sat instead (it's midweek, so coming home and going back up isn't feasible, and it's when the children are at school, so going up there isn't an option)

It'll get easier, I'm sure (I'm in a positive mood about it all tonight!!)

Anyway, if DH isn't up there working, how on earth would I ever be able to OP???

YEAY - bids on ebay at +£40. I'll cover the p&p from my c/ac, so that'll also go for OPs - items start ending tomorrow...

Finally confirmed earlier that an OP of £100 takes £150 off the end figure - so I'll use that as a selling point for OH - he likes stuff like that.... :)

Made 2 choc courgette cakes today to try and use some of the glut. Made chutney with 1.2kg of runner/ fench beans at the weekend - will use some for Xmas pressies... will help keep spends down, hopefully

Will update my list tomorrow (may have done some more stuff off it by then!!! ;))
