Dh still doesn't have a job, and no longer gets JSA as it's been more than 6 months. Still, we're plodding on
Christmas has been lovely - and we're off to the panto tomorrow - we always book our tickets when they come out in JUly!

Good afternoon all - wishing you a happy and healthy 2014!
_party__party_I'm going to give myself a kick up the bum and get on with life - I have been down of late, which is why I haven't been posting - however, New Year and all that!!
Some mortgage figures:31/12/2009: £104 936.05
31/12/2010: £ 91 999.68 (OPs £5224.07)
31/12/2011: £ 76 316.68 (OPs £8424.07)
31/12/2012: £ 52 546.77 (OPs £16889.31)
31/12/2013: £ 35 356.63 (OPs £11107.76)
When written down like that it doesn't look too bad!!
I'm going to aim to reduce food spends in January, like many people. I'm going to go for £300 - which still seems a lot, but will include toiletries, newspapers, guinea pig food etc. There's already been a small spend on 12pts milk and 2 lots of reduced meat from T*sco today. And I plan to keep a track of food waste - it looks like there will be a small bunch of grapes starting that one off for the new year - although I'm seeing if the guinea pigs like a couple of them first before composting the rest
The grapes are from the last week of term and have been hiding in one of the fridge drawers over the last couple of weeks.....:o
It's still free listing on ebay for a few more days, too - so I plan on listing a few unwanted items on there - any monies raised are for the OP pot, of course!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Happy New Year Greent

Thanks U-S!
I've made a small OP today of £5, after claiming £3.30 from TCB! Definitely small steps!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
oooh! I've now got the grand sum of 7 things listed on ebay - 4 of which were re-lists, though! I've got a pile of things still to go on there, but I find it's one of those tasks which I really procrastinate over! Still, it's not a bad way to get extra cash - I sold a free gift with purchase for £67.50 before Xmas, so I can't complain!
I've also been 'good' and resisted the temptation to buy any more crackers/ boxes of cards/ wrapping paper/ tags in the sales - I have plenty enough for next year already - although I did buy some 'individual' Xmas cards in the half price sale at WHSmiths - so now most of those are covered for 2014's Xmas - yeay!
In fact, I think I've generally resisted the sales in the main. I wandered into Next (£30 voucher to use) and wandered back out empty handed. DH and I have £60 in Debenhams vouchers to use, too - I spent £16.25 on a 70% off Red Herring casual jacket for DS1 and couldn't find anything else. I did buy DS1 some tops and 2 pairs of joggers in H&M - but he truly needed them (he hates shopping for clothes but at nearly 14 I need his input - I can't choose his clothes by myself any more!!!) - and I spent £42 on 7 items - which was a total result! I've now cleared 3 x way too small joggers out and a few tshirts from his wardrobe. He has been wearing all of his new clothes, so I think they're a success!
DS2's 8th birthday s next week - his presents are all wrapped - I just need to write his cardAnd pay the 50% balance of his party - he's taking 6 friends to the local laser tag with party food there afterwards - cost me £80 for 3 games each and the food - not bad, really. He's only ever had one party, so I can't begrudge him it!

Evening all!
Happy to report today was NSD!I did 2 collections of donations for the charity I volunteer for and dropped them at the premises and did some sorting there - that took about 3 hours of my day! I also took down the tree in the living room - DD complained - but there are still 5 trees left up in the house, though! DH made the most of a dry(ish) day by taking down the outside lights
Best of all we had some friends over for a few hours - my oldest, dearest friend and her hubby. They normally live about 3 miles away but her job has taken them overseas for 3 years - they've been away for 14 months now. They came here the other day as well at lunchtime - having not eaten and stayed until about 11pm - so we had unexpectedly to feed them for both meals! Today, though, they just ate our unwanted (unliked flavours) crisps- and brought us their unwanted (cheap) chocolate xmas presents - our small children aren't yet discerning enough to dislike it!!!;):rotfl: They fly back tomorrow, though - but are back in the UK for a family wedding in the Summer, so not too bad!:T
Plans for tomorrow include delivering donations to the charity which were originally delivered here over the Xmas break, taking down more Xmas decs, listing at least 3 things on fleabay and ensuring small children have done homework. Best check DS1 has too, I guess! DD's was *just* revision, which I know she's been doing on and off. A family game would be good, too - we received one from my sis as a Xmas pressie and haven't yet tried it out. And I also want to watch Silent Witness at 9pm. Oh - and make some soup!!:DI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
