Here's the post I did on the soup a few years back:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=36804504&postcount=966
I don't follow the recipe as such - I just throw in grated courgettes, tinned/ fresh tomatoes, stock, garlic, chilli, onion (nuked in micro in water to soften - throw onion and water in), maybe some passata and or puree and a couple of chopped basil leaves in whatever amounts I have to hand and adjust until it tastes and looks good!x
Hi GreenT, really glad you spotted my post on Fortune's thread saying it was your recipe. I replied there but not sure if you saw is so just to say thanks, it was lovely and I will definitely do again
Keep your chin up, you will all get through this and you're doing really well
Regards

Hi Crumpets - thanks for popping in
Sorry you found me at a downbeat moment! There might be one member younger than me (and I'm no spring chicken at 43!!!- eek!) in our WI - but it's generally full of much older ladies...
Really glad you like the soup, ATT. I shall be making some more in the next few days - I have the last glut of courgettes in the fridge and no room in the freezer (I grate them and freeze and use them in soup, Bolognese, lasagne, chill... I prefer making the soup with frozen courgette and it's already 'softened' a bit - and DH likes his courgette in the soup very soft, so less cooking time is required)
on the subject of DH, he's in London today - interview this morning (only arranged yesterday, so no cheap advance train tickets) and a telephone interview this afternoon - so he's off to a hotel lounge for coffee to do that one
He was very good and suggested himself that he took a packed lunch with him and a flask of coffee
He is VERY down at the mo, but is trying to give himself a mental kick
I made some pear and apple chutney at the weekend, most of which is going out with Xmas pressies:D I *do* need to get a bit of a shift on with Xmas - and DD's 16th is 2 weeks before - eek! I still have lots of pears and apples to deal with.... argh!!! :rotfl:
No OPs recently, but we do have a nearly new sale of kids stuff on 9th Nov, so I've started labelling stuff up ready for that today. There's quite a lot of it, so I'm hoping it goes for 2 reasons - 1 - I don't want it back in my loft! and 2 - I want the money to OP (although the kids get the money from any toys/ books of theirs which sell - I get clothes and equipment)
just had a phone call and have to pop out - - back later as I've not finished updating!

Good luck Mr GT :TA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks GG!
I dropped the small two at school this morning - it's Harvest Festival day and the school asked for donations to the food bank (they did this last year (and possibly the year before)) A great idea, I think. We took along a carrier full of flavoured couscous, biscuits, teabags, soup in sachets (leftover from DD doing DofE), sauces in jars and packets, instant mash and instant noodles. None of it cost very much, and some of it was stuff from my cupboards which we weren't going to use (such as soup in sachets) There were less donations than last year, with many turning up with nothing to donate (and we live in quite a 'nice' area) Some of this may be down to forgetfulness, some down to family circumstances themselves ('nice' area or not, everyone is feeling the pinch) but also something else..... I was talking to some mums whilst waiting for the children to go in and several were very anti-foodbanksSo much so that we had to agree to disagree and stop the conversation, as it's something I feel quite strongly about
The concept of bridging the benefit gap was clearly alien to them
Aside from that, we've finished decorating the lounge (other than another coat of gloss on one of the doors - I want new (plain wood) doors but am waiting before purchasing those! It's rather lovely, if I say so myself! DH is hopefully going to attack the landings and hallway next!
Beautiful day here - so my washing is gently fluttering on the line - which is great - I don't like the smell/ feel of tumble dried clothes, much prefer air drying (and I don't like them hanging around the house to dry for days, either)
Ooh - on a MS note, we had a renewal quote for our house (contents and buildings) insurance of £59/mth (currently £63) They then phoned a couple of weeks later and offered me £44 with much improved cover (huh? - how do they figure that!!!) I did some online quotes, got a few at around £405-415 pa and they were all underwritten by the same co. Went direct to that co (through tcb, of course!) and got the same level of cover for £305 pa! Mucho impressed! And maybe (if it tracks, etc) cashback of just over £30, too!) That and we've reduced our energy payments (and got cashback for switching) is great at the mo. Just need to reduce my Virgin/ see if they'll give me Tivo gratis!!
My mobile contract is up. Common sense tells me to get a giffgaff sim. But I want a new phone! I am, however, waiting until DH gets a job and if it's a contract/ day rate one I'll purchase it through the business (and get myself an iphone 5s:o:o:o) I can then sell my current phone on fleabay
ooh - on the subject of phones, I finally got around to recycling 8:o:o:o:o:o old mobiles - netting us the grand sum (inc cashback) of around £50. One was worth 11p....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Fingers crossed for the job and well done on your continued energy with moneymaking. I suspect that 11p phone is similar to mine....!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
hi Greent, I hope the interview went well for your DhMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Tonight's shoe selection will include my Iron Fist shoes with skulls and studs on.......
Are they red with the skulls made out of black sequins?
Love Ironfist shoes. I bet you Rocked!
I find that many people don't get the idea that people can be on benefits for range of reasons and so are judgmental, believing that it's because they are lazy or scroungers.
There but for the grace of god...Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Evening all
DH has just gone out to collect DD from a school trip to Berlin - she flew out on Monday and landed at about 10pm tonight
Trick or treating went well - got rid of lots of halloween plastic tat which m-I-l has bought for the kids over the years and they have never used - yeay! And the kids calling seemed to like having the choice of not just sweetsWe have some mini mars bars and lollies left over (I put out sweets in the bowl which my lot aren't keen on, the rest were 'just in case' - but it was quieter tonight than other years - possibly because it's half term here?) DS1 took DS2 around our cul de sac and to some friends' houses. DS3 didn't want to go out. (DD has a Halloween party to go to on Sat night as she and her friends have been away)
Oh - and my oldest most dearest friend is working in the States for 3 years - but was over here on business from Mon - tomorrow morning - so came here on Monday afternoon straight from the airport and again tonight - which was fantastic. And she and her hubby are over again Xmas/ NY - so we'll get to see both of them properly then! YES!!!!!
Saw our accountant today - signed off the co accounts - hasn't really been used for a year, so small Corp Tax refund dueAlso dropped off the stuff for our personal tax returns
ummm.... OP wise.... hmmm.... small OPs made from selling some books and CDsMoney from phones should hopefully be in next week, so I'll OP that when I have payment confirmed
That's about it for now, really, I thinkxx
