Hi Greent, that's a bit rough on DH - madness to interview four times and then find a potential internal candidate. Good luck for his next interview.

We should get the two together for support :)

Hi Tilly - yep, total madness re that job. And perhaps we should start a mfw job support group :D:D

He had the other interview last week but didn't feel it went well. Then out of the blue was phoned about a job he enquired about a few months back - the main guy was going to be in London on BHol Mon and wanted to interview him. Luckily we were in London from Sun - Weds anyway, so hubby went to an interview whilst I took 3 of the children off to the Natural History Museum (one of the teens staying in the hotel for the morning after some dodgy prawns the night before :() He's heard this morning that he's sown to the final 3 - which is good..... but the job is in Saudi Arabia!!!:eek::eek::eek: Still - we'll cross the bridge if necessary lol! :)

London was good fun - but exhausting. Did Ripleys Believe it or not (Tesco vouchers), Natural History Museum, Science Museum, Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green, Dungeons (not the small ones) (Tesco vouchers), the Eye, Sea Life (Kelloggs vouchers) and some general meandering around. DH and the was-poorly teen also had a quick peek at Notting Hill Carnival - where said teen got stung on the lip by a wasp - knocking him right out of action until the next day :( Poor thing!!!

School shoe shopping completed for awkward 7 year old today :) Just need to spend an evening naming it all now..... yawn!! :)

Sold 11 CDs on ebay whilst we were away, too - so have OPd the grand sum of £25 from that today! Definitely a case of every little helping at the mo! Relisted the others. Missed FLW last weekend but they come around every couple of weeks or so, so I'll get the next one :) Have reduced our standard OP at the mo from 1st Sept - and will reduce it again come Oct if no job for Mr G by then.... using savings money now..... thankfully we have it, at least! :)

Smallest one poured juice on my laptop last week whilst I was having a shower, so it remained undiscovered for a while. I thought it was totally fried. Thankfully it has recovered after leaving it for a few days except for the thumb pad - I can move the cursor, but it doesn't recognise the 'clicking' action. Solved by a wireless mouse - a cheaper option than a new laptop!! - this one's only just over a year old, so I wasn't planning on replacing it just yet.....!

Lots of diaries to catch up on again now......:D:D

Job news sounds promising but a bit of a commute! Glad you all had a good time in London, was Rilpleys any good as we have never been as it looks a bit dear for the time spent there?
    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁
  • Hi Greent, I think a MfW job support group sounds like a plan. Mr T would happily work in the ME and actually likes it however, I find working on a Sunday really quite disorientating and the heat in July and August is unbearable. I'd go back but but as a couple, not a family.

    Fingers crossed though

Ripleys was good fun - we got tickets using Tesco vouchers. Can't remember how much they were in Tesco points but definitely worth it for that price. Agree 'cash' price is high, though. Think we spent around 3 hours in there, but had the full package inc the mirror maze and laser thing. x

    Hi Tilly

if he got it and went it would be just him. DD is in year 11 and DS1 in year 9 so it's not massively fair to disrupt them for what would be a 2-3 year job. PLus Saudi appears to be the most hassle-y ME country - I wouldn't be able to drive, DD and I would have to carry scarves around etc. Would be hard with him away, though. But good for his CV!

    Evening all :)

No OPs to report here. lovely few days though. We had a bargainacious roast on Sunday and spent the evening playing family games, which was great fun. we then sent the children to bed at a reasonable time because we went to LEGOLAND on Monday (Tesco vouchers :D) - fabulous weather and managed to get on some brilliant rides. Took a picnic, topped it up with chips and icecreams :) Left at the end of the day, after hitting the shop for some bits for Xmas :)

Went to a Tesco a few towns away on the way home (DS2 needed a wee!) and hit at just the right time - bought finest potatoes @ 14p, finest tomatoes @ 15p, herbs, and loads of bakery items :D:D:D then came home, had quick and easy food and fell into bed :)

Yesterday I took the small two to a local-ish playpark with some friends and their children. Everyone took a picnic and we had tents, parasols and lots of drinks. Gorgeous weather and a great way to spend several hours before the start of school. Came home, made sure uniforms were laid out, bags packed and tehn I went out for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend - got home just before 11, so an acceptable time for a school night. Lovely day and evening, though :)

The bigger 3 all went back to school today - DD to Y11 (she's already complaining of the workload!!), DS1 to Y9, DS2 to Y3 (juniors :D) - and then DS3 went in for half a day this afternoon. He looked soooooo cute!! That's it now - all my babies are at school!!!

Dh and I spent the couple of hours we had free being productive - he was getting a wall ready for the relaying of some bricks which came loose last winter and I was doing paperwork for a charity of which I'm treasurer and trustee :)

hopefully I can report an OP next time! :) x

    Evening all :)

Well, DS3 had his 2nd afternoon in Reception class today and pronounced it 'fabulous' when DH collected him :D

Small OP of £25 made from cashback received (which I converted to Tesco CC points)

Bit of online banking done and money juggled. Expenses claimed from the charity I'm a trustee for (all things I'd bought for the charity's use) so I need to bank that (£120)

My car (4 year old VW which I've had from new and has 17k miles on!) is going in for mOT and service tomorrow - am hoping it should be pretty much ok! - fingers crossed!!! UNlike DH's :(:( - 3.5 yo Ford Galaxy which has developed an electrical fault and won't start and has immobiliser and power steering issues :( That was booked in for a service next week anyway - just not sure how we're gonna manage to get it to the garage now...... argh! :(

Weather has been fantastic still, so Winter weight duvets have been aired on the line whilst it was lovely. Not that they're needed yet, but just being prepared :)

Must start thinking about Christmas soon............. ;)

Well, my car passed its mot and the service was fine too! :D Garage has given us a number of someone who can tow DH's car in - yeay :) DH and I walked up to the garage to collect it together - hand in hand along the canal path - ahhhhhh! :D

First week (well, 3 days) back at school completed and children are tired. DS3 (4yo) pronounced his afternoons 'good', 'fabulous' and 'brilliant' - so I can't really ask for more than that! :)

Some Xmas shopping done online for DS1 with a discount code, free p&p & cashback - so a good deal achieved there too! :)

Went to a tour of the local theatre today with DD (she's doing drama in and out of school) - really interesting and a bargain @ £5 each. Got to see all the backstage areas, inc lighting, orchestra, dressing rooms, wardrobes, workshop etc and heard about the history of the place (built in 1891) and each received a book afterwards. Really good way to spend the morning :)

The afternoon was spent a first birthday party - lovely weather for it - soft play in the garden for the little ones :) Exhausting, so have made quick n easy teas for people, as lots of birthday party food was consumed. DH and I haven't eaten so far this evening as we're still full - I might suggest eggs and toast or similar later to fill any gap by then :)

  • great news on the car greent.
super organised on the chrimble shopping already. I'm shoving thoughts of the big day to the back of my mind at the moment even though I'm sure I'd be less stressed about it if I started now.
Fingers crossed for mr greent that something comes up soon.

Ahhhh - back to school always makes me start Xmas shopping. I do a bit of the easy stuff in Sept and then don't touch it much after that and still have all the hard ones left come December usually!! :D I must actually sort through what I've got sometime so I don't double-buy :)

Lovely day today. Dh has been working on a presentation for Saudi. I did a bumbling shop at Tesco (managing to spend £70+ even though I went armed with a list) and the weather's been nice enough to do and dry 3 loads of washing. (Just need to iron it all now.....eeeekkkkk!!!) Lovely roast chicken for dinner with pears from our tree poached in red wine for after. Washed down nicely with a bottle of rose and half a bottle of red (I only had a glass of rose - DH drank all the rest!!). Chicken stock made by 8pm :D and we then had a few games of Rummikub with some of the children before they went to bed. I'm now off to tackle that ironing mountain........
