Glad you got away - and how unpredictable is this weather at the minute??!! I'm sure it'll be one of those holidays the kids remember and you laugh about in the future, good you got at least one dry day.
Hope corp tax bill isn't too steep!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

AM almost beginning to think we should give up on holidays - illness in Disneyland Paris and Cornwall and then soggy camping!!;)
Corp tax wasn't too bad - similar level to last year and in line with my very rough calculation I'd quickly done. On a positive note, the accountant doesn;t think we took enough out of the company last year, so has suggested I take a £10K (!) dividend and leave it in as a directors loan for now - woo hoo!!!I just need to get all our personal tax stuff to her and she'll make the adjustments when doing our self assessments. OK, it's money I don;t have in my hand - but it is technically mine, so I could take it out at the year end (by which time DH wants some of the massive 'wish list' of work done. UNfortunately the co is not trading this year (DH has a salaried position for a year) so there's no funds accumulating in it, but it's served us well so far
MAde a small £5 OP yesterady just to see if it would kick LTSB into updating my mrge acct online - it didn'tThe last transaction showing is an OP on 24th May. MOnth end interest and the DD on the 1st should be showing. Grrrr! Their system can be so slow at times - I know it's there (and could phone to confirm it) but it sometimes takes days to update. Other times an OP shows the next day. I don't believe it's a fully integrated system, and that's part of the problem (apparently!)
Ah well, shall check again in a few days
50 items listed on ebay - only a bid on 1 item (mostly essential oils - and the price rise in postage means they're expensive now unless buying or more) A few watchers on some others.
Off to DS2's Sports morning in a mo - dry here today (although the school field will be sodden - it's s thin layer of topsoil on a heavy layer of clay) Tonight I have a meeting at DS1's school for his trip to France at the month end and then tomorrow night I have a meeting at DD's school for her trip to Paris next month (eek!!) Both are paid for now, except for spending money - but we kept our leftover euros from DLand Paris trip - which is MORE than enough for the 2 of tehmI also have WI tomorrow - though I'll be late in getting there. I have quite a few items to take with me to the barter stall - I only sell them for pence (WI gets 10%) but it's still money for old rope
I also need to get crafty and make my contribution to the WI group entry to the parish council show at the month end (traditional show with fruit & veg entries, baking entries, craft stuff etc - it's quite sweet)
DH has been compiling a list of all jobs (inc little ones, like replacing a door stop) for the whole house...... it's a very long list!! We're going to see how much we can get done this year. The house is in need of an overhaul. It's tired and grubby (bit like I feel today!)
Veggies are a washout so far - too wet! Gosh greent I felt exhausted reading all the stuff you have going on!!
Camping trip certainly sounds an experience- bet you were glad to get home to the warm! ... keep waiting to wake up to sun this week but none seen yet!
WI sounds fun - like the baking part of it! I said to OH yesterday I think in a former life I was meant to be a 1950's housewife just baking all day!
hear you on the list of DIY jobs... I am ignoring ours atm! well I did start to declutter the other day if that counts ... but that was enough to tire me out!0 -
We stayed in a camping pod last camping trip. It was amazing, all the fun of camping without pitching, getting drenched or having the wind flap your tent all night. Was only about £5 more expensive each night and SOOOO worth it as it poured the whole time. Sorry about your pitching in the rain, I've been there & it aint pretty is it! Sounds like you've been busy since you've been back!0

Hi greent, you don't have a lot of luck holiday wise! Glad you had one sunny day though. We have bought a big new tent but I'm not sure if we will use it this year, hopefully next year it will get some use but DD will be nearly 16 by then and she is not keen, how old is your eldest and do they all enjoy camping?MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Never heard of the pods, so just googled them. They look lovely- bit stretched for space with 6 of us, though (although two are small, so we could poss just fit in one for 5 adults) However, having bought ths tent and associated gubbins I'm bloomin' well gonna use it now!:rotfl::rotfl:

They do all enjoy it. DD is 14.5 (so I guess a few months younger than your DD?) and she's fine. She has her own double bedroom, so retreated in there with her books and ipod - no different to at home, except for the lack of laptop and tv!:D:DDeleted_User wrote: »Gosh greent I felt exhausted reading all the stuff you have going on!!

Wi can be good fun. Sometimes I get weary of it (I'm NOT a flower arranging person!) but things like the fun cookery demos, a hilarious allotment talk (the woman speaker was in her 30s and had a fabulous sense of humour), tai chi, indian head massage - good fun - and the social side is good, too. And there's always plenty of tea and cake to be had!:D

I don't believe you can - unless you have a LTSB current account and have online banking for that - they then link it up. It's a bit archaic, really (and they know it - my brother is a project manager there (c&G) and one of his projects was about the mtges and online banking)
Made an OP of £30 this morning - made up of £20 from £2 coins and £10 from stuff sold at WI last night (made just over £8 and rounded it up) Have a box of unsold stuff to take to charity shop later when titch and I go to Tumble Tots (and Aldi - need to top up on f&v!) - I've kept a couple of 'good' items to try again next month, but want to declutter as well as make the money, so anything 'suspect' is off! A couple of children's items have been put aside for the NCT sale, too. I must make a start on labelling stuff for that next week - it's the first weekend in July and that will soon be here  (and then it'll be the school summer hols.....!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:)I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
I hope your brother manages to sort out online access to C&G mortgages for us non-LTSB customers before I have paid mine off
Actually, I think it would become an obsession if he did :rotfl:0 -

lol! I've given in today and phoned them for my month end balances as at May to update my s/sheet - I knew it'd be out (usually by maybe £1) - it was out by about £8 (in my favour) - I guess that's because I made a big OP last month. My s/sheet assumes interest applied on highest balance in the month for all of the month - whereas if the balance reduces throughout the month from OPs then the int charged will reduce. I don't mind some minor adjustments, as they're always in my favour and it keeps the s/sheet relatively simple as I OP irregular amounts on any old day of the month (not including usual OP in DD on 1st of the month)
The member of staff tried telling me that this delay was usual - yeah, right! As someone who keeps an obsessive eye on it let alone the fact I'm a local with a hubby who's ex c&g, a project mgr brother there and lots of friends there over the years (and an ex corporate banker myself, so I'm not financially dim) I definitely know otherwise!:rotfl:Still, she was happy enough to give me figures in the end when she realised I wasn't moaning
Have some ebay listings ending today - went to bed with bids totalling £7.45 and awoke to bids totalling £20.45 - ok, not vast sums but these little bits really do add up! Some end at lunchtime, some at 10pm tonight. There are a few watchers on a couple of other items (one of which is quite bulky, so I'd really like it to go if possible!) so if I'm lucky I might get a couple more £s from it, too. Shall then post any paid for items tomorrow when DH and I are in town anyway (he needs some new shirts for work and Debenhams have a sale on and I have a small gift voucher to use there and some money off vouchers if we spend £30 or more) DD needs some new jeans too (curvy girly!) so shall see if we can find some acceptable to her style wise and acceptable to me £wise!!:rotfl:
Need to nag DH about claiming his expenses from work, too - from 1st Feb to date - about £3k worth, I believe....! :eek:Could do with that....I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
