Grr! I typed out quite a long post the other night but think I got distracted before actually posting it so ended up losing it! Ah well....shangaijimmy wrote: »i also think i dodged a bullet with the way the company operates/treats people.
Probably! My husband has dodged a couple of those with interviews - shocking experiences at times!:eek:apple_muncher wrote: »How's it going having your dh under your feet much more now? GO him contacting all those people! Hope something good comes of it.
He's not had much this past week - think he had a phone interview on Thurs. Thankfully he's decided that this coming week shall be a week of small diy tasks - the first one being to strip a drop of wallpaper in the living room and re-do it with a new sheet - I discovered a hole the other night - whatever hit the wall hit it with enough force to go through the paper & the plasterboard - it's quite a neat hole.... Thankfully we have a roll of the wallpaper left (decorated about 4 years ago... and checked the colour and it's fine - it's at the less-sunny end of the room) Fingers crossed it goes ok - thankfully it's just a straight drop - the one on the left of it has a double socket and part of a light fitting it to navigate and tp the right is around a fireplace (which was a right b*gger to do at the time) Otherwise it's a full re-decorateAnd I love this wallpaper - and the dining room has the same but in a different colour combination, so it follows a theme
) The wallpapering will be essentially me - OH is doing various bits of filling/ painting around the house and some new sealant in the boys' bathroom. However, both OH and I are lurgified - full of snot and headache-y - the boys have shared their colds with us....
I'm wearing slippers, fluffy socks, jeans, a vest top, a jumper and a big woolly cardigan and also have a wheat bag and a fluffy blanket and am still cold - and the heating's on! I thought I'd have a temperature, but it's actually lower than normal, rather than raised. Still, am hoping Tues should see me less-woolly headed for the wallpaper (I want to do it with a clear head, seeing as it's in the middle)
Next week is half term - we are off to see DS1 on Monday night and have booked accom for the 4 of us close to his uni halls - a bargain £55 for a wee 2 bed house for the night (with cashback of course!)- we shall go down earlier in the day whilst he is at uni (finishes around 3, I think)and see what we can do there and take him to dinner - will probably show the smalls his accom, as they haven't seen it. I shall offer to do a load of washing in the house, too - save him a launderette trip (and the cost!) as there is a WM there. On the Tues we shall drive over to DD's uni city, do some shopping with the smalls (Leg0..... - they can pay with Xmas monies!), maybe the museum , probably a McD's for lunch (well, it is half term, after all) and meet up with DD and boyf and buy them dinner. It's only an hour drive home, so we shall head back after dinner - a slightly late bed time won't matter as it's the holidaysI shall probably end up topping up both of their food supplies, too......:D
Going back to the job, I've now actually been 'long-listed' I found out on Thursday! Interviews were originally meant to be 28th Jan, so they're clearly running rather behind...…. with no holding communication to candidates.
AM loving the longer days! - it's now 5.20pm and just showing signs of thinking about dusk. Means the guinea pigs get to spend more time outdoors(when it's not shocking weather, of course!
) And is just so much nicer - Spring is feeling like it's finally on its way....

I was thinking it felt more spring like too, greent - and I'm noticing lots of new growth around too
Sorry to hear you've got such a bad lurgy, though - hope you can get nice and warm and get lots of sleep.

Hope you feel better soon GreenT. So many lurgies around at this time of year. Half term trip to see DS1 and DD sounds great. The washing and topping up of food stores/meals out sounds familiar. Received the mtge statement for the BTL in the post this morning - 14 pages long :rotfl: :rotfl: 2019's won't be anywhere near as long, as the only OPs are the rent.
Still lurgified - but it's just a proper cold (lovely red nose) - full on sneezing, alternately running or blocked nose and headache
Have managed to do a proper dust/ polish vacuum of living room though (ie move all the furniture, do the skirting and edges with attachments) and wash sofa (scatter) cushion covers, 3 loads of washing and some washing up - that'll do for today!
No money news - it's that quiet time of the month..... Rent is in and has been OP'd. Pr0lif1c has been very quiet for me for the past week and I've not really been spending to have any receipts to scan into Rece1pt H0g. And am still waiting for £90+ cashback to become payable on tcb (original expected payment date was last June....) but that will be lovely when (if?!) it finally arrives.
My big job this week is to sort paperwork for the Court of Protection for Deputies for my Nan - an LPA was originally being done but due to people wasting time that's no longer possible as her mental capacity has deteriorated. I'd like to have a clear head for it, though! - but really want to get it finished this week before half term..... sigh...I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Rub vix on the soles of your feet at bedtime (and put socks on). Dunno if it really works, but my most recent sinussy/cold thingy didn't last long.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Finally I feel better today - a whole week after it started! I still have reduced lung capacity and a heap of gunk on my chest, but I can (mostly) breathe clearly and my head isn't full of cotton wool - yippee!!! :j I am still sporting a slightly flaky nose, as I didn't get to the balm tissues soon enough! - but that's a minor issue (good job I'm not really going anywhere! :rotfl:)
Halfway through the month and finances are at the squeakier stage, I have to say - purely self-inflicted, though, so I can't complain. I've also just upped my monthly amount going to Vangu*rd wef 1st March - that was always my plan once I had 2 S&S ISAs - I've increased my amount and split it equally. The next increase will likely be targeted to my Lifestrategy fund, as opposed to the retirement fund one
Have done 2 small surveys on Pr0lif1c today - after not having any for almost 2 weeks! (ok, I'll have been sent some, but I haven't seen any when I've looked!:D) Have also had some freebies from smkt in the past week - free M1nky scourer sponges, Kell0ggs granola, Skyrr yogurt, coffee, water and big cashback making the items a good price on cappuccino sachets and washing powder :T :T - I'll get anything free if I'm in the smkt anyway - the foodbank usually benefits if its something I won't use and is long lifeI'll only get the heavily discounted items if they are something I'd use and the offer makes them a good price.
Talking of smkts - I need to pop in and get more cornflakes - will be a disaster in the morning otherwise!!!
