That's spectacularly successful, greent, most especially because you still prioritise making memories as opposed to paying off debt. I can't wait to see what your 2019 plans are :)

    Great review GreenT.

I am also itching to set some goals for 2019 but first need to do some financial shuffling to cover the Christmas spending and get us to a square edge for the end of 2018
  • Congrats on succeeding on an array of goals greent. Surpassing your BTL mortgage contributions by 100% is very impressive, whilst juggling busy family life!

I will also be intereseted in seeing the goals you set yourself for 2019.
    IO BTL1 Mortgage was £97,693.54 on 09/08/18; £83,140 on 31/12/19.:D

So I haven't finished plans for 2019 yet - they need some more thought. However, January will be the usual post-Xmas month of attempting low spends/ eating from stores/ using up things we already have. Stores will be depleted somewhat when the students go back to their unis early Jan, though - I will be sending them back with as much as I can - they're both going back to exams so I like to make sure they they will only need minimal (if any) shopping for the first week or two. We have to top them up with money anyway, so this is just another form of that. I will also have to transfer £1500 (or thereabouts) to DS1 for next term's rent!

Other plans for Jan - well, it is DS2's bday - I'm 98% sure that I have all of his presents - just need to wrap them. I will also buy a (small) choc bday cake - small because there will no doubt still be Xmas goodies lurking and also because the students depart the next day and that will just leave DS2 to eat any leftover cake (I don't like choc cake, DS3 doesn't really eat any cake (strange child!) and OH prefers biscuits and sweets!)

It is also DS1's gf's 18th bday in Jan. I plan to gift a bottle of flavoured alcohol received by us as a present at Xmas - it's more of a 'teen' thing and I'm assured that she likes it.

OH plans to contact some recruiters at the start of Jan and then hopefully spend a few days in London later in the month actually meeting back up with them - always good to remind people!

I plan to re-start tracking my food intake from 2nd Jan (there's always leftovers from NYE on NYD which are too tempting! :D) and make use of some of the gym equipment we have here in the house....

I have an alarming amount of toiletries (particularly face creams/ serums etc) to use up - mainly received as presents - so can see no reason why I need to spend on any such items.

Overall, I think Jan will be a month of re-grouping and re-assessing after Xmas - with possibly some plan-tweaking for the rest of the year. Ideally I'd like quite a quiet month :D

Sounds like some excellent plans, greent!

I always struggle with January birthdays - they're just so close to Christmas, usually I've used up all my present ideas by then! Mr julicorn's birthday is early Feb, and even that feels like too little time to work things out. Sounds like you're much more on it :)

    All the best for 2019!
