  • Hi Greent yes they are Percy the park keeper stories. I was trying to come up with a user name and DD2 was reading the cross rabbit and was giggling very loudly at his antics. DD1 always loved the hedgehog's balloons (correct spelling) when she was little and would hug herself when the hedgehog finally got his balloon. So whenever I come on here it makes me smile

Happy anniversary! Hope you had a lovely day for it.

Vienna is a load of fun. There was gluten free cake in every bakery. :T

    Happy anniversary Greent!

OH and I went to Gloucester cathedral last weekend during our weekend away. I was so impressed by the knitted garden too, thought it such a lovely idea. The cathedral itself was stunning too.

Have a lovely time in Vienna! Xx

Gloucester Cathedral is beautiful - I am biased, I admit - but it is lovely :) (I think it's Kevin McCloud's 3rd favourite building, from memory) The knitted garden is fab - Clare (the woman behind it) is lovely. She's a friend of a friend :)

So Vienna was fab - tiring, but fab! Our hotel was a funky little boutique-y type place in the 1st district, so fab for transport links :) (https://www.ruby-hotels.com/hotels-destinations/wien/ruby-lissi) My aunt met us at the airport, so we had insider info on best travel tickets straight off :) The transport system there is brilliant - all integrated, all running efficiently and seamlessly and just great. We did loads - we didn't go in to many paying places (such as in Schonberg) but did lots from outside and took heaps of pics. We covered pretty much all the major tourist attractions and some others less well known (such as Giacomo Raffaelli's mosaic copy of Da Vinci's 'Last Supper') Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Prater (https://www.praterwien.com/en/home/) and got some fab pics from the top of the big wheel (as seen in 'The Third Man') Vienna also has a free film festival in July/ Auf, where films are shown nightly(?) on a huge screen in front of the Rathaus (like town hall, I think) with food stalls/ bars also around and a park next door.

The parks! - so many green spaces (large ones) in the city. Lots of interesting things in them, too, along with things to do. Beautiful buildings too, and lots of historical stuff about.

Fab time - we walked our socks off :)

So.… today DS1 has an 'informal chat' at the local care home about volunteering there. Tomorrow he has an interview at a community hospital for a HCA apprenticeship. Both (either) of these will help his UCAS application for next year. However, he also has a place through Clearing for a degree in Applied Medical Sciences, which can lead to graduate entry in Medicine at the same uni (Medicine would then be an accelerated course, so only a further 4 years) He is off (with OH) to look at the uni on Saturday to see if he likes it. I think he's a bit carried away by the swiftness of events - and the fact that his gf is still in Y13..... fingers crossed he likes it, though, as it seems good - and this course was going to be his insurance choice type application for next year anyway... The place is definitely his if he wants it (they have confirmed the offer), so it's just a case of waiting to see after the weekend now.....

Money news? - fairly skint month (2 x MOT, 2 x service, 2 x cartax!!) and could get skinter if DS1 decides to go!! :D But we have exceeded our BTL OP target for 2018 :T

The person meant to be chatting with DS1 yesterday at the care home wasn't there, no one knew anything about it and no one could get hold of her - grrrrr! Waste of time! They suggested DS1 emails in about it to the missing person and also another so someone else has details. Personally, I think the missing person should be emailing to apologise and rearrange. Will wait until after weekend and then DS1 can email if necessary.

DS1 also had job interview today. Realistically the place it's in is a right pain, and not worth the travel time and fuel - but experience would be good - and, if nothing else, the interview experience is good. They seemed to be concerned on the distance involved for him to travel, so have no idea whether they'd want him or not. He should find out by the end of the week. However, it may all be unnecessary if he likes the uni this weekend...…

DS2 went back to school today, DS3 yesterday. I am shattered from the change in 'routine' lol!

We've had our kitchen painted this week - yeay! Am taking the opportunity to give it a thorough clean - removing everything from cupboards, doing some rearranging (maybe some culling) and giving everywhere a really good clean through. It's slow progress! :D:D - although I've been fitting it in today in between school runs, being DS1's chauffeur to interview, general housework (eg washing, cooking) etc.

My laptop has gone in for repair last weekend - looks like I can collect it on Friday - yippee! I hate doing emails on my phone :)

I feel like all plans here are in limbo until after Saturday....

Bah humbug! - just read on MSE that A5da are withdrawing their price guarantee wef 03/10 :( I used a voucher yesterday for 54p (from a wombled receipt) and wombled another receipt whilst there which has thrown out a voucher for #1.59. I don't shop there often (and mainly for very specific things/ offers) but an occasional wombled receipt was an added little bonus (my receipts rarely threw out vouchers but lots of people in the big A5da in town here leave their receipts (and other rubbish - grr) in their trollies) Ho hum.... and Tesc0 quietly withdrew their scheme earlier in the Summer, too :(
(although nothing beats those early golden days of DTD at TEsc0! :D)

So...... after a trip to Swansea today, DS1 has decided to take up the offer of a place and therefore will be starting there in 2 weeks!!! Cue a very busy couple of weeks sorting Student Finance (we'll just have to subsidise fully in meantime), a Student bank account (he has a normal one at the mo), more clothes shopping, kitchen items etc, etc. Very quick decision, but the course looks super interesting and he seems to like it :) Unfortunately, as he's a late applicant for accom he doesn't have an ensuite room, which he'd massively prefer (the upside of which is that it will save us around £30- 40/ week in accom fees!)

Money news? - we have none! :rotfl::rotfl:

Am a very pleased parent :D:D

Thanks, Kc! It's fab - just very quick! - A week ago this wasn't on the horizon and it was all about job/ volunteering for the next year - now it's all systems go to get everything sorted and him taken there in less than 2 weeks. Lots to do - but at least having 1 at uni already I feel somewhat prepared in what needs doing (although not for the 'loss' of the boy! :()
