Sounds like your holiday's started really well, greent. I love the extras you get on DVDs - they're nearly always interesting, and they can be as good as the main event sometimes.
Hope you have just as good a time tonight2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Incredibles2 was good fun
- very busy, as was to be expected.
I do like this time of month on MFW board - usually lots of people posting after payday/ OPsMid month slump is nowhere near as much fun!
We reduced our BTL mtge in July by £523. Daily interest dropped by 6pWe're still not paying enough capital each month to fully repay it by its end date, but as it is a BTL I'm really not concerned. Rough calculations means we'll have a LTV of about 25% at worst at expiry (assuming capital reduction stays at same rate), so I don't forsee a problem with remortgaging at that time.
Company accounts have been signed off this week - large Corp Tax bill - urgh! Accountant has also given us (unasked for) a large dividend - which sounds nice in theory - but means that I'm going to have to repay some of DD's student finance loan and also the teeny bit of Tax Cr we received. Obviously we still benefit in the end, but all of my calculations were based on not having that dividend...!!! (first world problems!)
Still, it may mean I can make a lump sum OP/ lump sum into ISA as a result....

Go for it, greent - 99% of this board is made up of first-world problems2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Oh, I know, Kc - the fact that we have homes to live in, let alone mortgages (making us owners of the property) means we are so very much better off than an awful lot of the world. We also have (however small) excess income in that we can overpay. Ok - it may be at the choice of not doing/ buying something else - but we *do* have that choice in the first place. Excluding the rest of the world for now, there is still so much poverty in this country. Some of it is not helped by bad choices (eg: child number 7 when you already have no money and a too-small house and survive on benefits) (a real example I saw in the charity I previously was treasurer of) but sometimes it is bad luck and/ or poor planning/ circumstances beyond control. The stats on child poverty are always a shocker - I used to do talks to WIs etc in 'nice' areas and would give them their stats - they always used to try and excuse it as the next ward etc - but it wasn't - it was based on postcodes and I'd point out that it could be the family looking on the surface like things were ok, but surviving on handouts, maybe payday loans and desperately trying to keep their heads above water and not bring attention to themselves. What's that saying - many people are only 2 paydays from crisis/ homelessness? I would like to think that MSE helps lots of people from getting out of that situation/ never getting there in the first place...
Anyway, on a brighter note, the sun is shining, it's a beautiful evening - and I've just eaten pancakes with lemon and golden syrup!

Hi greent, glad I've led you astray to centreparcs
we went to the Woburn one too, have you been before? The pool is smaller but more tubes etc. Which may work out better for the kids, all in all it seems much less busy everywhere than usual, have fun!
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hi newgirly - no, we've not been to Woburn before, but have been to Nottingham twice and Longleat (the closest one to us) around 10 times.
The kids are very excited (all 4 of them) - we shall pack tomorrow and head up on Monday to arrive around lunchtime
Much of the week will revolve around the pool. We have bowling booked and will also likely do mini-golf, but I hate planning too much in advance. The weather is looking lovely. Last time we went to CParcs (Longleat) it snowed - which looked magical in the forest!

Have lots of fun in Center parcs greent!
(We're going to the Woburn Center Parcs with Mr Julicorn's family next month, and I'm crazy excited. I think last time I went to one must have been 15 years ago, and it was always so much fun when I was little!)0 -
