Ooof! First week of no work after the exam season and it's flown by! The weather has been gorgeous all week (currently 29 degrees at 6.30pm!) I haven't really been out in it (I burn far too easily to go out for long) and the garden is suffering massively - but it's glorious! I'm feeling headachy today, though - I don't think I've drunk enough, so am remedying that now
This week has gone something like this: give blood, go to visit sis to find she'd forgotten (despite only arranging the previous evening....) so catch up over a cuppa with her mum, lunch out with invig colleagues, lots and lots and lots and lots of ironing, housework (aided by DD & DS1), shopping for some house bits (such thrilling items as a new laundry basket for the boys' bathroom), tidying and inventory-ing the freezer, and catching up on missed tv (whilst ironing) Not a bad weekOh - and bestie and her hubbie came here for the evening as well
Am looking after nephew tomorrow (almost 9 months) - he's just started crawling a couple of days agoI think I've forgotten how to entertain a small child for that length of time!
OH and DS1 are away on a uni open-day trip, but DD, DS2 & DS3 are here
DS3 is very excited at it (the reality may be somewhat different to how he envisages the day going! :rotfl:) Nephew is a totally cutie, though, with the biggest blue eyes ever :happyhear
Not much else is happening really - it may be start of the month, but I've already skinted us by clearing the last of the debt at the end of last month!:p I think it'll take a few weeks for me to catch up with myself there, but so worth it to have it gone

Well we had nephew from 9am - 10pm on both Sat and Sun - was shattered! Too hot to do too much! Very cute, though, and all of my 'babies' loved playing with him
Took DD back to uni city today - keys to new flat collected and took all the kitchen stuff with us, along with bedding etc. Nicer than last year's flat, although desperately trying to figure out where she can put some shelves (she and bf are both English students, so lots of books for pleasure as well as study!) She and he are staying there for a few days, coming back on Sat.
No real money news in last few days. Signed up for ICE rewards with mastercard, and will get OH to do the same later - should get us £20 in M&S, which I'll use towards school uniform (hopefully shouldn't need to buy too much this year) and pay matching amount (when spent) to mtgePretty much the quiet time of the month here now - next 'excitement' will be when rent comes in, and I can OP some more

Well done on coping with a 9 month old baby! You have experience, of course, but still
And thank you for mentioning ICE - completely forgot to do it, so I've just signed up now, with 2.5 hours to spare2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Glad my comment reminded you about ICE, Kc
Current accounts are now looking healthier as OH's expenses have been claimed/ Paid :T Small payment made to mtge, as some cashback claimed from tcb in Tesc0 vouchers (higher bonus % than Amaz0n) so a rounded-up equiv paid as OP
Today is the first day with no work for me (and no appointments) and no OH at home (whether wfh or off work) for a few weeks- I miss my 'me' time! My plans are super exciting - ironing to catch up tv, some tidying and visit a supermarket or two!Oh - and get all the tax paperwork in a pile ready to take to accountant next week. And peace and quiet for a few hours!

Hope that your day panned out as you hoped and that you had your 'me time'.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Me time was spent watching catch up tv whilst ironing
Mid month here, so rent is in for BTL and a smaller amount has been transferred to mtge. Quote is now in for the required work, so some funds have been kept back for that. Checked OH's tcb account this morning and claimed £12+ in TEsc0 vouchers, so have made a £15 OP to cover that- repaying this mortgage is very much a slowly-slowly game!
DD is back from a few days in her new flat (took bedding, all kitchenware etc) and she loves it, which is so nice! Her flat last year was a dump! This one is smaller, but is lovely (and literally around the corner from SU) and has actual proper heating! (always a bonus!)
DS2 has now finished school for the Summer, so it's only DS3 who is still going - he doesn't finish until the 24th! It does mean, though, that I can set my alarm for later on a morning :T (DS2 has to be out of the house at 7.30 sharp, DS3 not until 8.30)I really need to come up with some ideas for things to do/ places to go over the Summer - we currently have nothing planned.
I've spent the morning finalising paperwork for OH and my tax returns, ready to drop into the accountant on Tues (am that way anyway, so may as well do that rather than post it) I'm pretty sure I'll have a tax bill, and OH may also have one (he usually ends up with a small rebate, but I don't think he will this time, due to the changes in Dividends/ tax rules) However, I'm not planning on paying it until JanI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
