So last night..... friends turn up with a big box of games (they've not long moved house) and random toys (remote controlled things, 'guns' which fire foam discs etc) - kids will love going through and friends are happy that any unwanted stuff goes to CS.

Had takeaway, moderate alcohol (all different) and played 'Don't Say It' - me, OH, bestie and hubby, DD (20), DS1 (almost 12) and DS3(8) and had some of the choc extravaganza and then finished just about in time to watch fireworks and listen to Big Ben. Small 2 went to bed then (they'd been fab) and then we had more alcohol (moving onto spirits as opposed to the earlier prosecco/ lager/ beer) and played Cards Against Humanity (so down to the 5 of us) Was absolutely brilliant fun - can thoroughly recommend playing it (DD was the only one who'd played it before) - particularly if playing with similarly-warped humoured people! Finished around 3.30 (with warm milk!) and made it to bed for 4am - and was woken by DS2 who announced he'd been sick at 5.30.... Ended up getting up just after 9 and we're all running on low energy today - but had a great night. Have resolved to do it again but earlier to bed! No hangovers (not that much was consumed in reality - eg I had 2 large glasses of prosecco and 1 very large caramel vodka but over a period of about 6 hours), just tiredness. Having our friends here (they ended up staying) enhanced the evening. They truly are great friends :)

Not much activity today - easy food (inc leftovers), a long family game of Monopoly and that's about it. DS1 is back at school tomorrow, so it's back to getting up to an alarm in the morning.... :(

    Happy New Year! :)

DS2 was fine the next morning, thanks, shs - am figuring too much choc (I found out afterwards that he'd raided some Xmas choc in the fridge) and a very late night. Landing carpet now needs vaxing, though - scrubbing it just didn't work quite well enough!!

Alarm was set for 6.20 this morning - and that was a struggle! Back to 6am tomorrow, as the smaller 2 are also back. All bags are ready and by the front door. I shall prep lunchboxes shortly and have DS3's uniform ready and waiting (forgot to sort DS2's - will aim to do that when he is asleep (I know they *should* do it, but it will make the morning tomorrow so much easier.....)) DS2 doesn't want to go back - he feels that it is too early (as do I!) However, I'm sure he'll be fine and it'll all be back to normal routines and rhythms next week.

Suppose I should mention something money related :D I paid £5 off the BTL mtge today - totally smashing it! :rotfl: I also transferred some more to the kitchen fund and paid my 2015/16 tax bill (I had an extra £565 to pay)

On the subject of the kitchen, I started clearing out another cupboard and have a box of various glassware (some of which I really like but never use and choose others to use above it) for the CS. Am sure other stuff will emerge, so I shall hang fire on taking it there until next week. I also tidied (most of - I got bored!:o) the airing cupboard (the penalty of having had DS1 and DD put things away in there recently - and also OH grabbing old beach towels for the leaky loo!) - and released 2 duvets and a small throw/ runner :T

I'm shattered - think NYE has caught up with me. Shall do lunchboxes, put a load of washing on to do, sort wet/ dry washing on radiators and then might call it a night... I have a book from my to-be-read stash to start reading (and can then pass it on when finished) :)

Haha! No worries, ng! Whilst I'm logging in, I'm not really trying very hard atm (eg: I've just finished up the Xmas double cream with my breakfast porridge!) - will be on it soon. And you must play CaH - it's so funny!! We are going to get a set and an add on for us :)

So all the boys went back to school last week (DS1 on 2nd, DS2 and DS3 on 3rd) - getting up to a 6am alarm was hard!!! After school/ evening ctivities are all back on this week (swimming, shooting, Cubs, Scouts, rugby, Cadets, more rugby....) so it's very much back to 'normal' now.

'Twas DS2's 12th bday on Saturday - he chose (on Fri night) to go bowling on Saturday - we haven't been in years and it was really good fun! (although more expensive than I remember - but I had a family deal and used tcb to book it online) - must do it again - have suggested poss half term, when we can take advantage of a midweek deal price :) He then (last minute) wanted to go out for food, but doing a walk-in as a family of 6 (we have limited choice of restaurants where all 6 of us like something on the menu, too) is really hard - we usually end up having to wait for quite a while before they can fit us in - so they had takeaway instead and have promised a family meal out when DD next home from uni.

Talking of DD, she went back to uni on Sunday - OH took her (and popped in Cardiff Ikeya at the same time :D) - has been lovely having everyone together and so relaxed for a few weeks :)

Money news - tenants have essentially moved out of the BTL - where they haven't been there and it's been cold and they had no heating on and no ventilation there are some patches of mould on 2 walls (very common in those properties - it's down to the 1970s construction) so I need to clean it, treat it and then repaint (and remove wallpaper from 2 rooms - and fill/ sand down/ repaint lots of holes......) Am not really OPing until we have new tenants, just some rounding down monies from c/ac.

Kitchen - need to check we are still on plan for amended date (w/c 5th Feb). I have started emptying cupboards - lots of random stuff to CS and some bits identified for fleabay. Feels a bit in limbo at the mo. Am so looking forward to March when the majority of it will all be done! (although we'll have basically no savings after that! - good job OH's contract has been extended until end of April so I can take some more money out of the company! :rotfl:)

Ooops - Time to take smallest one to school.... :)
    xx
