Some people just can't be bothered with their jobs, it makes so angry! I ran a shop for years and was always polite, so many now days are not (lots are still mind!)

Last week I was in superdrug in lakeside - it's very busy- and I saw a woman in staff uniform that worked there lurking at the make up next to me , she bent down undid a BRAND NEW lip gloss took it over mirror and put it on, she saw me and put it back in the display, it was not a tester, ready for someone to buy

I went and found the manger and said I was not happy with what I had seen as I buy my makeup there , she replied " well staff are not really supposed to do that" what!!!! No apology, no saying she will deal with it! Yuk.

greent, I've seen a lot about Bcys recently in the financial press - they sound like they've got problems with their back room systems as well as the outrageous way they treated you - you're well of out of it. I hope you don't have your current account there?

And newgirly - OMG  words fail me at that sort of behaviour. Sometimes I think people go on a bit too much about how people feel so "entitled" these days, but then I hear something like that, and there really is a section of society thats like that :( but then there's youngsters like greent's as well - I hope it still all evens out ...

    Urgh ng - that's awful! :(

I have to confess to having some accts at Bcys (purely sentimental reasons - I'm ex staff) but am tempted to move them all now (I do have others elsewhere and have done some c/ac tarting to get free money in the past year and a bit)

Anyway, I have several hours by myself today - yippee!!! OH is in London seeing several recruiters, DD is at work for a few hours, DS1 away at army cadet camp and DS2 & DS3 out with my mum for the afternoon :D It's lovely - I can't remember the last time I had the house to myself (possibly way back in Jan) - I'm relishing the quiet - I need pure 'me' space to recharge my batteries - I'm not a very social person in general.

Went for afternoon tea yesterday - was lovely food (and prosecco :D) and a good natter with family. Generally avoided the family 'situation' with my late uncle/ nan/ another aunt/ Probate etc so all was good. Was then told later that I'm not required to complete Probate, as apparently a solicitor will do it for £350 (yeah, right - that'll be the cost just to fill out the initial forms, which I've already done - then there's VAT and disbursements.... and dealing with the auction house (my uncle had lots of antiques, coins, gold and collectables) and transferring ownership of the house...) Still - it's not my issue any more, so I'm out of it. Am sad that it's all fallen apart from distrust and mis-communication and that I can't see my uncle's estate 'right' (last act I can do for him)

Now.... what to do today..... I need to tackle the weeds (thanks Kc for inspiring me yet again to do gardening :)), put ironing away, do 1 paperwork item minimum - and take some time out to just 'be' :D A cup of tea will start the last item off in the right way, I feel :D I'm caught up with MSE/ MFW and blogs, so may start a new book :)

    Happy Wednesday!
    xx

Cups of tea are wonderful for me time :)

How sad that the Probate situation deteriorated so badly :( As for doing what you can for your uncle - you've done that, I think, in going along with the family decision, even though you know its going to cost a lot of money - when people are creating situations like that, I bet it would have got a lot worse if you'd tried to explain any further :(

Did you *enjoy* the gardening? I love it out there, I must say :)

  • So glad you had a great holiday, good luck with all the results. X
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

I *did* enjoy the gardening, Kc - I cut down lots of Virginia Creeper where it was growing over the fences from two different neighbouring gardens, pulled up some weeds, chopped down some others and sprayed the shorter versions with weedkiller and also did some selective spraying of weeds in the front garden and where they've come through slabs in the back patio and paths. I found a huge flying ants nest along one of the paths in the front garden so powdered that and then ran powder along the bottom of the front of the house as they like there usually, so thought I'd do that as a preventative measure :) My plan was to burn the dead weeds out from the patio slabs this weekend with the weed wand, but it is raining cats and dogs here today.

On a more important note - DD got into Cardiff uni:j:j:j:j:j - her first choice - we are sooooooo pleased for her! (I'm going to really miss her, though) Most of her friends achieved what they needed, too - although sadly not everyone did, so plans are being re-thought. Meanwhile DD has accepted her accom offer (again her first choice one) and has entered into the rent agreement etc. I will be signing her up to mse this week and going through some stuff with her (she's very aware of mse and the need for budgets, so it's more of a formality to make sure she thinks of everything)

It was lovely being at work yesterday too - sharing in the (thankfully mainly good) news - including things like 3 x A* and x A from one lad who lives in the next street and who is lovely - and very modest - I asked how it went and he told me that he'd got into his first choice uni and was really pleased - it was only later on that I found out his actual grades and that he's eligible for adjustment if he wants to look elsewhere (I don't think he will, tbh) Even those who hadn't done that well were still generally pleased :)

DD chose Nando's for dinner, even before the offer of a free starter was publicised, so we trotted off there last night :) (She's a cheap date - I was expecting her to choose a steak somewhere :D)

Took the small 2 to a playpark yesterday afternoon for a couple of hours with a friend and her boys - was lovely to catch up with her and we are meeting up again next week :)

Today involves school shoe shopping for the small 2 - not so much fun! A necessary task, though - even if rather £££ouch!:)

  • Well done your DD. Fabulous.
What will she read at Cardiff?
Loathe school shoe shopping too but our Clerks has put an extra TEN staff on to cope.
  • Gah...do people still take their children shoe shopping?? :D

I have twin three year olds and bought one of the clarks foot measuring devices from the shop for a few pounds. I measure their feet at home and order online. Job done :D
