I was actually being complimentary - not everyone is blessed with an OH who has good taste in jewellery and the guts to choose their future wife's engagement ring by themselves.
I know that when OH bought mine (and he had an idea what I liked but still chose my ring himself) he was extremely nervous, despite being fussed over by 3 women young enough to be his daughters and being plied with champagne as he handed over his credit card!0 -
