and here's the setting which i'm having trouble getting a wedding ring to fit round ... didn't think of that when i was picking it but i wouldn't change it for the world!

You could ask a jeweller to remove the back of the setting on one side to allow a wedding band to sit under it. It would fit perfectly and not change your engagement ring from how it looks from the top.

Not everyone is as blessed with an OH who has the ability to choose a ring........

Hey come on now you 2, I don't think Phyzelda was trying to make a point or trying to rub anything in at all!

My OH chose my ring also and it means a lot to me too because he specifically picked it out himself.

It doesn't matter who chooses the ring, so long as the person wearing it is happy with it!

Some of us have ohs who are good at DIY - mine managed to drill through the lighting cable when he tried and he's so accident-prone he ended up in A+E once just loading the washing machine.
Some of us have ohs who are good with buying presents and jewellry and stuff - that happens to be one of my big soppy lump's strengths in life.

I'd be willing to bet that having a husband that doesn't break everything he touches is marginally easier to live with for a happier life in the long term than one who manages to pick out a nice shiny engagement ring! :P

Ok this thread was about our engagement rings, I only said the truth!! My ring does mean so much more to me than the value due to the fact he choose it!!

There's no need to jump at me!! And I feel some of your comments were rather unfair!!

wow what happened to the fun atmosphere on these pages? we've all got different rings and different OHs and we all love what we have for different reasons. I admit to slight twinges of envy when I look at some of the rings on this thread...I know I have acquaintances (I won't call them friends) who pity me for having a non-expensive dress ring as an engagement ring...I also have plenty of friends who were totally envious of the way I got proposed to and have seen beyond the ring itself. My OH did offer to change my ring if I wanted but even if I did go out now and choose the most beautiful expensive diamond in the world to me it wouldnt be my engagement ring - the one I've got is symbolic of the proposal, engagement and everything I love about my very skint, slightly mad and totally gorgeous (in my eyes) OH. I don't believe any one of us would really change what we have or we wouldn't be on these pages digesting everything going about weddings and getting so excited about our own plans :)

I thought Kavanne and floss were just kidding, and didn't take their remarks seriously at all. I think though, that a thread like this does verge on a game of one upmanship, and although I am enjoying looking at all your beautiful rings, I do feel as if there's a bit of childish, "look what I've got" tone to it, which makes me a bit uncomfortable.

Now now, don't belittle the women who haven't even got a carat on their left hand, never mind their right hand ;)
