I don't think anyone could argue debt was being reined in well before labour took over.

And who were in government the last time it went over 8%?

All Labour have done recently is nick Tory ideas, so of course the Conservatives are going to keep most of their powder dry until the Scottish Tw@ has the guts to stand for re-election.

"Tax rates are much the same."

Got to laugh at that one, dont look at the headline, look at taxes behind them.

"By any measure you like, including the views of the people who have used it, the NHS provides a better service than it did."

That statement means nothing. When is 'did'? It appears we are now paying 3x the amount, since 1997, for a degraded service. Where does that money get to? Maybe if you have worked in the NHS you would understand, but sadly most dont, so have no idea of the massive wastage.

"State pension is higher in real terms."

That is becasue of the change in 'inflation' measure.

"Even after the world slump the current unemployment rate is lower than it was during most of the years 1979-1997"

Take a look at the 'economically inactive' numbers and weep.

I not going to comment on other issues but if you consider waiting 1 to 2 months for an hospital appointment instead of 2 years or most probably being admitted as an emergency before you get an appointment as a degrade you might be right. But as someone who has used the NHS over the last 20 years I can tell you it’s a lot better now. Probably not as good as it should be regarding the investment it has had but better never the less.

State Pension is exactly the same in real terms as it was under the Tories. Mrs Thatcher's Government broke the link between pensions and wages and ever since then the pension has risen by inflation. Labour didn't change that in 13 years in power.

I think I remember there were some one-off increases, plus of course the 2.5% in the past year.

    1997/02 - Basis state pension 61.15
    2010/02 - Basic state pension 95.25

    Increase - 56%

    1997/02 - RPI 155
    2010/02 - RPI 219

    Increase - 41%

Plus of course there are Pension Credits which improve matters for someone with no other income.

Abaxas claimed that pensions were lower.

    LOL!

Not got the figures to hand...so this might be incorrect.

You cant look at the headline, the most important figure is the total 'appointments' per year per person. Ie the number of times someone on average goes to a NHS centre. I beleive this went up from about 4 > 11 during the 10 years previous to 2005 (last time I worked in the NHS).

What people tend to want is treatment, not a chat with a medical professional.

Agreed but you don't get that until you have that chat

Agreed, I have a good example of this last year.

I pulled a muscle in my shoulder so went to see the doctor. Here is a list of appointments.

    1 x X ray
1 x cardiologist (he was as confused as me)
1 x psyio, about 9 months after when I was already healed.
1 x follow up appointment to ask QOF questions.
  • what about hartoff - neice of Earl of Longford and who went to fee paying St Pauls school for girls? What about Darlingtoff who is the grandson of a Sir and went to the Scottish Eton, Lorreto? What about Charles Clarketoff who went to fee paying Highgate? What about Blairtoff who went to Fettes and Oxford? What about Haintoff who went to Emanuel?

The whole stinking labour corrupt rich boy brigade know as much about going down t'pit as Cameron does.

I can really picture The Lord Mandelson at the coal face. What a load of hateful spitelful racist slanderers.

Remember their posters showing that Howard and Letwin were jews - done up like Fagin?

They are the lowest of the low, lower than a snakes belly. They paint any anti-labour supporter as racist, homophobe, xenophobe, but in reality are extremely racist themselves.

Calling people toffs is acceptable racism because the lefties condone it.

If Dave called labour politicians a load of champagne socialist corrupt hypocritical filth dogs, they may not like it, despite it being true.
