I have just deleted a potential date from FB because on his profile, under 'Favourite books', it says 'What are books?', and when we were chatting, he asked me what wilful meant.
Am I just too shallow and snobby?

Not at all. The point of the on-line profile and chatting is to see if you potentially have anything in common. An intellectual mismatch must be quite hard to get past and you don't want to end up feeling like his teacher or Mummy!26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073
