Okey doke, feel a little more organised home, work and debt wise. Have nearly finished the washing, packed away most things and have read all work emails to save me doing it tomorrow morning. Just got out of the bath and am suitably relaxed ready for work tomorrow. Have a trip to London office tomorrow afternoon, not so bad as just a short meeting although hate travelling all that way for two hours  Still it's some time out from home and another change of scenery.
Have had it confirmed in writing that the date for completion and move is that of 4th August 2010 :j:j:j We're super excited and I have had my days agreed off of work, have about six in total - woo hoo!! Had a bit of a weird conversation with the people that we are buying off of have asked to look at our flat to consider renting it whilst they continue looking for a house to buy here -- how bizzare would that be if they like it and we're basically swapping over on the move date :rotfl:Guy really lovely and said we're more than welcome to pop over and measure up, have a good look about etc - we've exchanged etc so it's basically waiting for the moving date to come.....i'm SUPER excited!!!!
So, not going to make any lists etc as in London most of tomorrow and will probably be a get home, shower and bed by the time I get back.
Hope everyone is having a nice evening, back to my MSE ways from tomorrow...... x0 -

Woo hoo it's payday :j Need to sit down and work out the pennies/budget over next couple of days with OH but bit hard as he's on lates, i'm in London etc. I'll be sleeping, he'll be working...he'll be sleeping and i'll be working and so on....hopefully by end of week we'll have something in place and know where we are. I'm hoping that we'll be able to put aside £1000 between us into our savings account for the house move. We're ok money wise for the move re fees and so on and should have quite a bit spare, but we both have said that we'll put as much money as possible into savings account until we move into house to cover all costs etc.
Debts unfortunately will take a back burner, they're coming down nicely though and I do have my goal for the end of the year to reach and I will do it!!!
OH and I had some big discussions this week on hols and we know we need to have a safety net for any emergency that may arise - we both work in public sector so job cuts, pay cuts, pay freezes and overtime freezes etc are more than likely to come our way....pay freeze is already happening for me and likely to continue so we realise that we have to be sensibly and we're thinking perhaps having 3 x our monthly outgoings saved up and not touched for such emergencies.
It's weird but now we officially are on the housing market and have our 'own' home - albeit part ours part mortgage and so on but we would never ever want to lose it and it's made us step up financially as a team - funny how things go isn't it!
Anyhow, enough waffling from me!
Mini to-do-list- check online banking
- daily scratch card
- make small overpayment to Lloyds CC (even if only 1p!)
- attend meeting in London
- sort through clothes drying
- notify work re proposed change of address date for home working purposes
- eat sensible
- 30 mins exercise
Have a good day all xx0 -
Great list and sensible talk. We can never be too sure an as long as payments are met debt can wait if it will give you a comfort zone etc. You said no lists seems you are gluten for punishment hehe speak to u later xI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Hey Choc!!! Glad you had a great holiday.
Woohoo to the date for the house move and how bizarre if you do just end up swapping places with the owners!
Great idea about your emergency fund. Ideally i would love to look to doing this in the near future
A lot of exciting things happening in choc land!:D:D:D

Phew, long day and I now have a huge coldsore just off the side of my mouth
Grrrr
Well work was interesting, there are certainly harsh times coming ahead in my sector. No recruitment, pay freezes, current review of all AD positions and merging of areas....potential cuts....so on and so on. Big changes all round over the next year or so me thinks, meanwhile i'll just plod on and concentrate on putting myself in a better financial position both debt wise and savings wise.
Amazing what a 2 hour meeting can bring about  That said I think i'm lucky in that our managers are open and honest and tell us everything (that they can) to let us know what's going on and always do their best to fight our corner if needed.
Anyhow, onwards and upwards - will keep plodding along and cutting back with a nice outcome hopefully! Really hoping to put aside £500 into savings account this month and overpay some more off of my Lloyds cc also. Need to sit and do the figures properly but think I should be able to do it as have a bit of overtime in pay this month0 -
Glad to hear you are almost sorted with the washing and packing! It sounds as though the holiday gave you a good time to talk and I totally agree about having money set aside for emergencies, I have absolutely no emergency fund and it worries the hell out of me!
the 4th of August will come round so quickly, I bet you cant wait!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

We are SO excited Jody, just hope everything runs smoothly - 7 weeks exactly today :j:j:j
The emergency fund is a must for me - both jointly and personally i.e. enought to cover 3 months household and enough to cover 3 months debt repayments for me. Once I have that sat aside, I will feel a lot settled.
I'm sure you'll be able to put aside some emergency funds with pub work xx0 -
Good luck on saving up the emergency fund Choc. It is such a sensibe thing to have.

Thanks Kel! To be honest, I think we have it already in savings jointly to cover 3 mths house costs but will have to wait and see once all the fees/final payments have been made and then there is the cost of moving van, new fridge freezer, washing machine and so on. Decorating can wait a while until we're in and know what we want to do etc.
It's the personal emergency fund that I need to work on as doesn't exist right now - hmmmm, how am I going to do that!?!0
