What are you doing this weekend?

Afternoon All

I thought I would start a thread on activities and free/ cheap things to do, both at home and in major cities :).

My reason for starting this thread is that I have now set myself a strict budget which means I cannot spend all of Saturday night in the pub :rotfl:or out to dinner and thought it would be good for all to share what they do of an evening/ weekend/ day off and bat about a few ideas.

My plan was initially to spend the weekend digging over the allotment, it's exercise, it's free and I find it very relaxing. However, Mr Weatherman has well and truly stamped that idea! So, what will you be doing this weekend?

(Please move or merge this thread if neccesary- I may have put it in the wrong place because I like to stay within the warm bosom of OS :p)

I'll be gardening tomorrow and Saturday morning (polytunnel if wet), and a possible Ikea trip with DD.

I'm singing in Rossini's Mass on Saturday, then to London on Sunday. Our main plan is the Imperial War museum's Ministry of Food exhibition (2 for 1 with Waterstones card :j ) and the children want to shop :p

There's a whole board of days out, so I'll move this there later :D

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.

Ministry of food exhibition sounds great! Went to the Imperial War Museum before Christmas, it's always a great day out. I really want to get out to the allotment this weekend but weather looks atrocious in Surrey and have no shed or polytunnel as yet to seek shelter in :( I've got a little garden in the flat so I suppose I could maybe get out and plant a few summer bulbs and have a tidy up. :D

I've never been to the ideal home show, it sounds great but I know I'd see all of these lovely things and spend well over budget :p I hope you are better at self control than I am :)

My local council is holding an open evening on Saturday with free entry to events in and around various old buildings. The weather forecast for Hampshire looks pretty unpleasant too, though, so that plan might be cancelled (I got drenched and ended up with a bad cough last weekend, and I really don't fancy that for a second week running!).

I had hoped to do some gardening at some point but that might get rained off as well, sadly. smiley-sad029.gif

I'm terrible! My neice says i'm a sales person's dream. But i'm not gonna take my card and only going to take a small amount of money in my pocket. So no naughty gadgets for the kitchen can sneak in!

I can't wait to see the gardens bit and the cookery school- I hope I see some famous faces :D

The usual cleaning and washing on Saturday morning, shopping for Dad's B Day in the afternoon and then the family are coming round for lunch on Sunday and to celebrate dad's birthday. Just got 2 large legs of Lamb for £13.00 this morning from Somer***d so should do lunch and loads of other meals. definitely some gardening if the weather is ok.

Mmmm! I've just ordered the Lamb for easter.... I haven't had lamb in about 15 years so I'm not sure if I will like it. Remember not liking the smell of it though.

I will have to find a good recipe for it

I shall be having my hair done on Saturday. Not moneysaving but it perks me up to have 2 hours of pampering, reading the trash mags and gossipping.

On Sunday I will do the housework and start off some veg seeds on the kitchen windowsill.

Will also try to get some time to read my library books.

Could life get any more exciting?

PenPen, is it the Misse Sollenelle? Our choir sang excerpts from that last year,
the alto solo Misere is beautiful, but we found the chorus parts complicated.
