Perhaps he was only very rude when you were very rude to him?impster wrote:I have just had a phone call from a very rude man
My advice is to give up. We've been through this all before, many many times, such as with cameras from the Apple Education website (did anyone actually receive one?). As has already been mentioned, if the price is obviouly a mistake, which it is, then you won't be able to force them to honour it. There is case law to back this up. Just be pleased with yourself that you spotted the mistake - I would be.
Edit: didn't spot the previous posting, sorry. Looks like you've already come to the same conclusion.

I can guarantee I wasn't rude to the guy from Alert Electrical. To the contrary in fact. I was taking it in a jovial mood until he started going on about time wasters etc.
Anyway - an update. Having looked a bit more into this company I can see that they are not a small run business. They are a large wholesaler of goods to the public and to the trade as far as I can make out.
I have since the rude call contacted Consumer Direct Wales ( the Welsh Assembly Government's branch of Trading Standards) who have virtually assured me that Alert Electrical are legally obliged to fulfill the contract. I have also had an Email from the MD admitting the fault on their part, but are now being quite fussy about not being able to offer any alternatives as money had not changed hands - this after supposedly giving me a refund (which I have not formerly accepted or asked for!).
In addition, the so-called out of stock item is now miraculously back in stock (thanks to a covert phone call made by a mate) at £45.00 + VAT. Elsewhere the same product is available for £27.95 including VAT!!!!!
I am now awaiting Trading Standards to interveine following much tardiness on the part of Alert Electrical.
It's a hot summer. We all need cooling off. Anybody else pursued the matter or had any luck?0 -
LOL I lost all sympathy for the company after the rudeness - go gettem

They have take £5.88 from my account this morning according to my online statement and I have just been online again to pay a bill and they've refunded the £5.88 so I'm guessing they aren't going to supply.
I haven't had any contact from them at all since they emailed to say that my payment had been processed. So they haven't told me I won't be getting my order & anything
Whether they supply or not, there's no excuse for poor customer service.0 -
I ordered some of these fans but I could only really see 3 options for the company, I've been waiting 2 days for something to happen.
1) they call and cancel
2) they email and cancel
3) they just refund and ignore any contact at all
and so far I have had neither, I'm sure we will NOT be getting these fans despite their t&c ect but I do think it's rude not to contact us.
I was expecting a call from them where I was going to ask either when they were getting more in stock or what the price SHOULD be, but I was not going to purchase any just wanted to see what they said as I think they assume that there were no real "customers" who placed orders that day
