Fraudulent car sales

I bought a used car from a main dealer (big company) and as part of that deal the car was to be serviced. They said they would and on collection they stamped the service book. I have found out that they did not service and are continuing to lie about this saying they did. I have a limited amount of evidence and the trading standards dude wants to know what I want from the garage. What should I ask for? I bought it in early Feb.trading standards dude wants to know what I want from the garagepart of that deal the car was to be serviced0

Kurtis, Mikey,
You realy are no help, can you see the good avice I have been given, do you see how it's done. You should just have taken my word for it, I was not asking you to turn up for a court hearing, lol.
I was just looking for advice from anyone, perhapse in a similar situation.0 -
Well I thought my advice was very clear, you have no proof of anything and they are not going to admit to it, i asked a very easy set of questions for you to supply details of and you have not managed to do that so any advice you get here will be both limited and blind.
You requested information on "what to ask for" now obviously if the service was an oil change on a feista the answer would be quite different then a belt change service on a 355.
Unless your vehicle is a McLaren F1 the cost of a service is not going to be worth the costs of an independent report and court costs for you to turn up with your "limited evidence" and be shown the door.
Good luck with your quest for justice.0 -
Ask to return the car for a full refund.
Then buy one somewhere else.0 -

Why not just take it somewhere for a service. Then you will know its been done...
Oil can be black the same day as it was changed. Get over it lol...***Trading Standards Approved Motor Trader***
:(Hmmm typical reply from a motor trader!
I also thought this was a forum for getting help, not a place to ask a question then get smart (no help) !!! replies0 -

You have no proof, well certainly none you are stating here, why the secrecy?
Even if you know, and they know you know, and you know they know you know, they wont admit they know, or even that they know you know.
ya know?
Is Donald Rumsfeld frequenting these parts?0 -
OP...I am sorry but i cant see any proof of your claim. it sounds that it is your gut feeling that the car has not been serviced but that is not a proof. I cant see the dealer admitting not servicing the car even if they did not. may be you could get the oil changed at an independent garage for a low cost , specially that you did not have to pay for the dealer service, and settle for the fact that you had the dealership stamp on the service book which should maintain the value of the car..and any warranty if any0

Wow isnt this getting a bit heated? Or are we feeding the trolls? I love the fact thats its always newbies that shout the loudest......'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
With respect, the OP is not asking for advice on whether he has a claim. So I fail to see why so many are jumping on him in terms of whether his claim is valid or not. Trading Standards are advising him on that issue.
He is simply asking for opinion on what is reasonable to expect, should TS and the garage agree a resolution to any dispute!!
Fair question, why not just answer it or don't reply if you have nothing to add?0 -
When I change the oil in my diesel car, it takes about half an hour to appear black.
that would only change with a good flush, which I can't be bothered to do, nor would a garage. All a garage would do is drain it until there hardly anymore coming out, filter change, plug back in and refill.
There will be a fair amount left inside which will quickly discolour the new oil. Petrol engines tend to hold that "clean" look for much longer.0
