i got really angry the other weekend when a primark sales assistant demanded that i use one of their bags as a security measure. no other shop is this militant in giving out plastic bags.
i've just sent them an email asking them to clarify how using their bag makes them more secure, and how they manage to overcome this in their penney's stores in the republic of ireland where plastic bags are now taxed!
i'll let you know if i get a reply!!

Ridiculous! I smile sweetly then leave their advertiement/carrier bag on the desk. I've not been sued yet!

Primark's insistence on plastic bags is not the only reason they aren't 'green'...

The only reason they want you to use one of their bags is free advertising.
security is just an excuse, the receipt is all the proof of purchase you need.0 -

My father used to ask if they were prepared to pay him for carrying their adverts round for them. Then when they said no he used to turn the bags inside out.
It was really embarsssing at the time.0 -
Think thats just one assistant interpreting their rules badly.0
