what volunteer work hav you done to gain some skills and experience? You need something on your cv that shows what you are capable of. Doesn't have to be academic, can be working with things or people. Princes Trust?

    Very good suggestion Emmzi!

I am a team leader for the Prince's Trust and the Team programme could greatly benefit you. As Emmzi said you need something on your CV to show that you are commited to sticking to something, and you can gain qualifications at same time. You develop skills such as communication, problem solving, teamwork, tolerance and some life skills such as first aid/food hygiene

Have a read through the info on the website and if interested you would need to get endorsed by Connextions whilst you are still under 18 or Job Centre once you are 18 and signing on.

    What about voluntary work?

I know it is complicated to organise, but CSV (Community Service Volunteers) will organise placements for young people. They interview you, match you up with a volunteer job that suits your personality, skills and interests, and sort out any necessary training.

They usually sort out expenses too. I know it's not paid, but it would be a start and help you to gain work experience.

I started out as a CSV volunteer, many years ago, when I was an unemployed school leaver, and had a great time.

Go and see them, it won't hurt to have a look, and see what they can offer.

With regards to the driving is there a relative or friend who could help you out with a few lessons so you don't have to take so many paid lessons ?? I did loads of driving with my DH when I was learning. I think they need to be over 21 and have been driving for so many years. Also make sure they/you are insured !!

As soon as you turn 18 make a claim for JSA.
As you're NEET (not been in education, employment or training) for so long you should be fast tracked into stage 3 of JRFND making you eligible for Future Jobs Fund vacancies as you're in the 18 - 24 year old bracket.

yes ive tried voluntary work at place's in my town and other local place's but it seems that either because im 18 its against there insurance companie's.. OR people are already working voluntary.

as for re-applying at any college's its not worth the time of day to be honest best way is to just get an apprenticeship (seems a brighter idea to me )
Work,Get payed,Learn (apprenticeship) OR college, learn in a class room and hands on in a college workshop for a year then need to get an apprenticeship for level 2 nvq) so....

And yeah im hoping that either way im going to be in employment soon!!
as for lessons etc yeah i have family members who COULD pay for a few lessons but i dont want to ask.
i can drive etc and have also practiced all the manouver's id do on the test day and so on... but in the car situation i think its something im going to have to do for myself (kinda):rotfl:with my birthday coming up in a few days time im sure il get at least 100 quid towards a few lessons n so much away for a bit of working doing on the car.. or towards insurance or something...

Do you get as far as the interview for college, the ones ive had i wouldnt really call an interview so couldnt really fail, they let anyone in, any supermarkets close to you that you could apply for. Maybe volunteering is a route but you have tried that i think,
