You'll still get a refund if you call them tomorrow. No doubt they'll take an admin fee off the refund amount but it can't be any worse than loosing 80 quid.

Always read the terms and conditions though before signing up for anything. It will save a lot of time and hassle. All of their charges are clearly listed in their terms and conditions.

I don't think cancelling your card will work in this case. They've probably authorised the transaction already and will proceed to debit the amount next working day (tomorrow).

  • I've just had a debit of £39.95 from these scammers...

    1. I have never, nor would I ever agree to such silly terms
    2. I ALWAYS read the T&Cs before submitting an application

On the day they say they received my application, I did almost complete an application for a loan through a broker.

I'm guessing this is how they acquired my information, but really can't see how.

I have never had any contact from e-credit plus etc etc...

I've spoken with them... Apparently my 'pack' is in the post.

She refused to provide proof of when/how the application was made to them. I stated that under the data protection act, any information held pertaining to me needs to be released on request (to be fair, I'm not too well-read on the subject, but thought that was the case). She said they would only do that once a police report had been submitted, then put me on hold... came back to say my account has been cancelled and as soon as the application pack is returned, they will refund the money.

Interesting change in tone... I'm wondering if that's because they couldn't link the application to my IP as it went through a broker.

The "broker" was 48hr finance. As soon as I realised they were an upfront-fee evil broker, I did not continue with the application.

This is the only place I can think they could have possibly got my details from!

We'll see if/when the pack arrives... I'll send it off straight away and see if it really does get refunded!

In the mean time, I want to cancel my card, but would that not mean they could not process the refund (if they're even going to)?

And before anyone says it... yes, I was an idiot for even trying to use 48hr finance without doing research on them first :(

I won't be making that mistake again in a hurry!
