Where the benefit could occour and I feel it would is where (and it pretty much states so in there t&c in a way) a third party site could have fraudulently obtained the card details in any way they can. How much of the £99.50 would a third party site possably get?. So there is almost a proven incentive right there I feel.

And to have is stated in the t&c that and details obtained by fraud by a thirdy party site is nothing to do with them and they wont deal with such a claim. Yet to proove it was not them or it was a third party fraudulent site they will either have to deal with the cc company or the cc company will possably be forced to pay the money back due to lack of co-operation off E-Credit Plus I feel.

Just thought some of it sounded strange where they all ready have most of what they are asking for\need anyways.

I agree. But maybe they have quality standards that insist they have certain things in writing and not verbally.

A few quid, a tenner at most.
Not the most lucrative way to defraud you.
I can think of much better ways.

Why doesn't anyone think it could be E-credit plus who are perpetrating the fraud?
Maybe someone on the inside who has a way to syphon off the funds (Nick Leeson style).

Or it could possably be a revenge attack from an insider on the cc company side. So do it via a site or a few to thousands of cc members in a way that would leave the cc baffled where the claim from the customers are the same and using such comapnies where it would be difficult for the cc to proove customer fault meaning they could loose a fortune with such refunds!.

Just a theory but on a serious note and in thinking there could be almost endless reasons apart from personal gain for cc fraud. Thats just 1 that comes to mind.

Plus as the above poster suggests, why cant it be E-Credit Plus running a scam. It really is odd for them to pretty much suggest in there t&c if there is cases of fraud it's not them but a third part site.

Not so much an update but questions as such. We phoned up early last week and they could tell us nothing saying to phone back this week. We phone up today to be told by the department the gf phoned that they had to contact a different department dealing with it to see where they are upto. They then told the gf very quickly they cant get hold of the department dealing with it.

The gf asked for the number of the department dealing with the fraud so we could try to contact them, to be told there is'nt 1 and she cant contact them directly herself.

But I don't get it it's been 4 weeks now, there must be something they can tell us as after this time they must have investigated the fraud to the point where they have made investigations etc.

With reported fraud they surely cant investigate this slowly that they cant tell us anything?.

Also been reading on other fraud thread that people are doing\asking for whats called charge back to bet the money while they investigate? Can I ask for this or could they be working slowly on purpose to let charge back be an option?.

Any advice on how long these fraud issue can take before they will tell us anything?.

I'm starting to find all this issue odd and annoying after the gf phoned them today.

First off after talking to them to get some info on where they are upto, the gf gets asked have we (tsb\mastercard) received the information we asked for. To which after saying yes the person start tapping and mutters something she could'nt hear.

Only then to be told they need they need an officially signed statement and not the hand written statement we sent. Seems they are signing a statement out for the gf to sign and she then has to sent that back. Presumingly before they even start to do anything!!!!!.

Now whats annoying me is that it's now been a month since we first contacted them. Nothing from them on where they are upto for near 3 weeks except they are investigating. Now to be told they need an official signed statement that they will send out for the gf to sign before they proceed!!!.

They have everything they have asked for and to be told they have been doing pretty much nothing for the last month is out of order. They have had the statement for 3 weeks, the fact it's hand written legally makes no difference from what I can tell. So to be told after 3 weeks they don't really want to accept it and want something else more in print they they are sending to be signed that they have prepared is out of order.

Sounds to me like they are using delaying tactics or any move they can to stop us contesting it as fraud.

Does any of this sound odd from tsb\mastercard to anyone?. I am thinking of asking for a charge back, is that possable in this case?, and how long would that take?.

A little update on this issue. The cc company's statement to sign was to say about the charge being nothing to do with us and we tried to contact the company to get the money refunded. The covering letter said they will refund the money if signed and they would chase the company for the money back off them.

But something has struck me as odd and possably edging on being illigal. The statement mentioned we have contacted the company to try and get the money being refunded as a step needed to be taken before signing to get the money back off the cc company.

As we are claiming the charge was nothing to do with us then we cant contact the company to ask for the money back giving the account details as we never setup any account with E-Credit Plus. Sure, it's in the partners name but the cc company's suggestion as part of the statement to sign means it's suggested we either claim we are the account holder and claim it's ours to get to speak to them over the money back. Or get the company to break DPA laws by getting them to give details and ask for money back for a E-Credit Plus account we never setup.

Is that an error from the cc company in there statement as they are kind of asking us to admit to being an account holder or break the DPA laws?.

Another update, hopefully the last. The credit card has now been refunded the near £100 back with no further questions. I know I should'nt be suspicious about how easily the money was payed back apart from the waiting time and the cc company digging there heels in over the info they wanted etc.

But to pay the money back when there is no obvious way the fraud, with no blame to it being our fault from the cc company at any point I might add, could have happened (yet we claim it was fraud) makes me think either they got no responce from e-credit plus for evidence of a sign-up or the cc company knew it was a fraud issue from day 1 it was reported. But seeing as they said they cant start anything before the statement was sent back this month to then pretty much refund the money right away makes me think they possably had info they chose not to share with us for some reason.

Also it is kind of strange how this was about 3 months ago and not a single letter from e-credit plus about "cancelled" payments seeing as they were also to take what, about £10 per month from us on top of the £100 odd.
