Teething baby- what powder ?

Hiya all
My baby is teething just now and I have been using ashtons and parsons powders for about a month now. Along with bonjela and baby nurofen.

When I was getting more yesterday there was a lady stocking up on one called "teetha" by nelsons. I asked her about it and said it was better than the ashtons one.

I had never heard of it before but bought it to try.

Anybody tried it? Opinions please!

Thanks!

  • Hiya, never tried 'teetha' i always used ashtons and a teething ring from the freezer which seemed best. Another option if your bubs is old enough to be eating is one of those mesh pouches and put some slightly crushed iced, you can even flavour it or put a peice of frozen fruit in it and they chomp on it but the mesh stops them getting any lumps. Really good item, i used to use one for my daughter and it worked even better than a teething ring as the tastes were like a reward so she'd carry on using it rather than discard it after getting bored.

    Good luck though! x

  • Sorry thought i'd add they are made for babies, lol, not just a random mesh pouch. They have a ring and handle for bubs to hold and they can't get anything but mush and juice out ;)

I have always used ashton and parsons but a friend uses the other type and says they have been really good i would try them but they are nearly £5 a box and bubs seems content with the ashton and parsons so unless that changes i wont be changing :-)

I found the teetha ones better than the ashton and parsons, but did use the ashton and parsons ones when I couldn't get to the shop as they are easier to get hold of. I used to buy the teetha on the boot's 3 for 2 and get my points too so wasn't too expensive. I also used to freeze sticks of cucumber, apple pieces and slices of banana for DD to chew too.

Hope something works for your LO though teething is so yukky for them and for you, until you see that white glimmer break through! :D

I think I may need new parenting skills my head said try cocaine.. lol.. Sorry..

I found the teething granules better.. and if they didn't work smallfry just got calpol'd.. I didn't often give it but I would rather give calpol than see my baby upset and in pain.

If the powders aren't working something else might.. :D

Yeh the Ashton and parsons come in a wrap like cocaine so does look a bit worrying :D
  • Hi Teetha is all I have used on ds. It seems to work as good as anything is going to. I found bonjela a nightmare to get into his mouth but he has always opened his mouth for teetha - even asks for it now when he has sore gums.
When he was a baby my wisdom teeth were coming through and I tried it too and I must say my pain seemed to go! so i stuck with teetha! It is expensive but I don't use it often - probably only bought 5 packs in 2 years.

Teething powders are all homeopathic and there is no evidence that they work, so I never bothered using them at all.

Yes from my memory I once tried teething powder (I recall putting it in DS's mouth and him spitting it back at me)

Persevered until the end of the packet but I found that it didn't appear to make any difference whatsoever - perhaps you have to keep going with it for longer?!
