Today I have bought some fabric which I want made into a skirt for my wedding outfit. I've looked everywhere for the type of skirt I want and couldn't find it so I have decided to buy the fabric and draw the design I want. The next job now is to find a local seamstress who can make it.

  • I have to say I really like the idea of making a tiara/ hair slides, think it would be fun and all the things i've seen at fayres so far have been quite expensive. Apart from hobbycraft is there anywhere else i could pick up a head band and gems from? How much does it cost in total?

Plus people keep mentioning flower markets to do your own arrangement for the big day, how can I find out where my nearest one is?

My advice is to shop around, you'd be surprised how much cheaper you can get things, and also think outside the box, you don't always need to go for wedding companies for things - they inflate their prices for some things.

    Best of luck!

We got married in May. On the subject of disposable cameras I wouldn't recommend the ones from Confetti.co.uk The pictures have all come out very grainy and dark. We put them on the tables for people to use at the reception. Was glad we hadn't relied on them for our 'official' photos.

We got married in July. I got my dress, shoes, tiara, hair clips, and son's suit from ebay. My MIL paid for the cake as our wedding present, a family friend did the catering for us for the reception, we hired a room at a local mens club.
One of my sisters freinds did the pictures for us, we have a lovely album and a few enlarged for the walls for the price of a boquet of flowers.
We used FIL car as the wedding car, everyones else had their own cars or shared.
My hair and make up cost more than my dress did!!! :D

We had a registry office wedding, we had to pay £60 for the marriage licence, then £44 on the day of wedding to the registrar.
We ordered buttonholes for family and a couple of close freinds only.
We did ours as cheaply as we could, such a fantastic day, but definatley get looking around on ebay, some sellers have their own shops so you don't have to bid on ebay.

Ask around family and friends and see what they could help you with. Anyone good with a camera that can get you some nice pictures?

Hubby's uncle did a wedding dvd and photodisc for us.

When you set the date, sit down and write a list of everything you are going to need, sort the most important ones first, and have a look at argos for rings we got matching ones for a reasonable price.

Above all, relax, enjoy your day, it'll be perfect.
Just make sure you got water proof mascara on!!!

Oh and if you need a blue garter, i got 2 so you could have one them, as something old/borrowed.
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.
    ROCK IT DON'T STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BE GOOD OR BE GOOD AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wedding plans are coming along now. Weve changed the date slightly as the reception couldnt fit us in for the date we wanted. Were now having the reception in the function room of a club my parents are members of. In a couple of weeks time we have the local vicar coming round to see about getting married at a church outside our parish. Mother in law is making the clothes and almost everything else is in hand.

I've found it a little difficult finding a church which will marry us as my intended is divorced. Seems wierd that if you are a reformed criminal or drug addict they welcome you with open arms but if your divorced it's the crime of the century

Have you tried a united reformed church? Other than that a nearby c of e church their vicar will sometimes marry divorcees, though he wishes to speak to the divorcee first and ask about what led to the marriage failing before he makes his mind up, so it depends on the vicar. It might be more difficult if you asking at a Catholic church, but I'm sure someone I know was able to do this as her husbands 1st marriage had been at a registry office.

The vicar that comes round in a couple of weeks time going to talk to us about that. My intended got divorced because his ex was sleeping around. When the divorce proceedings were going on she couldnt even remember the surname of the person she'd done the deed with!! So it's hardly going to be looked on as being my bf's fault. But if he says no we will settle with the resgistry office.

I made the tiara's, necklaces and bracelets etc for my wedding for me and the bridesmaids. It's really not too difficult. I had the beads already as my mum made my dress and hand beaded the bodice. The Tiara bands and wire I got from ebay as well as real silver beads and claps for the necklaces, and some clear plastic comb grips to bead to match (very easy just wind wire round the edge and add beads onto the wire as you go).

For the 5yr old bridesmaid I covered the tiara band in ribbon so that it was more comfortable to wear and added fake flowers on wire from John Lewis'. The same flowers were wrapped onto safety pins and pinned to her dress to tie it all in.
