Thanks so much to MSE for the voucher. I have tried this and spoke to a nice enough guy who kept asking me if everything was plugged in. Eventually convinced him of this and the end result was that he told me to take the computer back to the shop where I bought it. Mmmmmmm.....

I haven't tried the service but it just sounds truly awful. Maybe it will work for little old ladies who can't find the "on" button on their tv remote, but I doubt they can offer anyone any true technical support.
