You have your line rental with BT, so you pay BT £11/month (DD) with free caller display (https://www.bt.com/btprivacy)
You join up to Primus 2, they are a carrier pre-select provider, this means that your calls are automatically routed via Primus 2, no need to enter a code.
With Primus 2, you pay then no monthly fee and you get your evening and weekend calls to 01 and 02 numbers for free.
You can also sign up with 1899 and 18185 who are indirect carriers, you can use 1899 for your daytime landline calls (as you get them free with Primus), as 1899 charge just 3p for the entrie call, not 3p/min but 3p per call.
18185 offer cheaper rates to international destinations and also UK mobiles at 5p/min daytime and 2p/min weekends.
To use the indirect carriers you dial the access code (1899 or 18185 etc) before the number you wish to dialIt's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I notice that Onetel are also altering their price structure on 1st October - it will be almost identical to the new BT structure, except that some Onetel prices undercut BT by a very small amount. It all looks like price rises to me...
However, line rental remains at £9.99 per month for paperless billing, calls to other Onetel/TT customers are still free, and all weekend calls remain free.
Fortunately, we make very few chargeable calls via Onetel.;)0 -
I have been paying for calls on Primus saver 2 for a few months, only pennies here and there. They were free so have I missed something. I have checked the site but I can't see anything about them now charging for a service which was free. It was free for me but only from April till August this year, then they started charging.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. What time of the day are the calls in question? ,what type of calls are they?
Its only 01/02 Evening and Weekend Geographical Calls that are free .0 -

It's ok, phew. I had made two calls which were 087 ones and that's why I had charges the last few months, just 4p and 13p etc, otherwise free. So sorry if I freaked anyone out. Thanks for the replies too.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Can any tell me what Primus Saver2 charges for 08444 calls. Do they have (3p) connection charge, similar to BT?
By the way 1899, 18185 and 18899 are all the same company - they even have the same VAT number - just different tariffs.0 -
Yes, 1899, 18866, 18185 and many of their dial thru services are all the same Fineara company.

Your Primus Saver calls are billed per second. Calls that you make outside your Primus Saver call plan will carry a 4p (inc. VAT) minimum call charge.
I'd use BT (dial 1280) for 0844 calls, that way you can be sure they are charged at the advertised rate. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Many thanks.
What I am trying to do is to avoid paying a connection charge and, hopefully, be charged per second, when calling 0844.
Can it be done, ie with Primus Saver2?0 -

084/087 numbers are billed per second although they, and all other numbers (apart from those charged per call) attract a "call setup fee".0
