Normally, I propegate seeds in the greenhouse, on a bench with a heater and a polythene tent - this year, I decided to start them off in the airing cupboard, to save a bit on heating bills...
When they are outside, I just pop down every couple of days to check on them, water them etc... since they have been in the house I am checking on them three, maybe four times a day...
- I am working from home, which does not help, and I am sure I am using it as an excuse to have a break from work... but I think I am becoming slightly obsessed! :rotfl:
I have started even started counting them
Anyone else do this??

oh yes i know that feeling lol, i've got trays and pots all over the house, and i'm checking them all twice a day (morning & evening), and inbetween when i enter a room. More often than not nothing has happened, but that feeling you get when you see the first seedling emerge......WOW, then you have to go back throughout the day to see if any more have emerged:j:j:j0

Another addict here. So far i've got 46 chili seedlings (Cayenne hot, Hot Tepin and Jalapeno) 45 tomato (Gardener's delight, Ailsa Craig, Harbinger and Sungold F1), ten Russian Giant Sunflowers, spring onions, Carrots, herbs etc etc etc.......
I check on them at least twice a day, castigate the wife if she forgets to open the curtains for light etc!!0 -
I get such a good feeling when i see things growing that i have planted. I have never enjoyed gardening, until this year and now i am hooked on veg growing. I'm still not into flowery stuff or anything, the garden could be all raised beds for all i care. Just as i feel delight when seedlings start to thrive, i feel disappointment when others die off. But then i chuck 'em on the compost heap and it makes me feel good knowing i won't have to fork out (pardon the pun) for another 1250 litres of compost next year as i intend on making my own from now on.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Glad its not just me!!
I had about 110 chillies at the last count - 16 varieties - and oops - well over 500 tomatoes.. I sell a few plants though, so its ok!
I have been upstairs to check twice already today - i am making myself leave them alone till this evening now!!0 -

Neither am I but I grew french marigolds last year as I was told if you put these near your toms etc the greenfly will go to these instead of the tomatoes, plus they will attract bees to your garden and help with the pollination of your fruit and veg.

Here Here! It's very important to have flowers to attract the beneficial insects plus it's a 'feel good' factor to see vibrant colour and variety....
I'd be pretty peeved at seeing only veg growing.0 -

Ahhh, i see. Mine are potted on into 3" pots (some are in polystyrene cups) already and are taking up all the window space!! Here's hoping for you that we get 10°c minimum night temps otherwise those toms will sulk!!foreign_correspondent wrote: »they are going to have to go in the greenhouse to be pr1cked out - in seed trays at the moment so not taking up too much space!0 -
agree, i've been checking on mine repeatedly, and I only sowed the seeds on sunday... unsurprisingly no green shoots yet! I've even been going outside in my dressing gown at 7:30 am before my shower, to check on the things I sowed outside in pots...0
