PS3 HDMI Connection Problems

Hi,
I am having problems connecting my PS3 using the HDMI cable.
I have 3 hd tvs in my house, and have tried the PS3 on all 3 tvs. The PS3 will only connect using HD on 1 of the tvs.
I have a 42" Samsung, no signal is received from the PS3?
A 22" Alba, this works with the HD cable.
A 17" Alba, no signal received from the PS3.
I have tried everything such as manually trying to change the PS3 display settings to HD, holding the power button to reset the display settings, different HDMI cables, but nothing works.
I want the PS3 on HD, on the 42" Samsung.
Anybody got any idea what is wrong, does the PS3 have common HD problems?

have you tried a different HDMI cable?
is the sammy 1080p and the alba 720P?0 -
Tried different HDMI cables.
Not exactly sure if they are 1080p or 720p, would this make a difference anyway? Even if I try to connect manually to the Samsung, no signal is received from the PS3?? All very confusing.
The alba tv the PS3 works on is:

i have seen reports before that the PS3 doesnt like changing displays
are you just trying different displays or planning on running the PS3 with all 3 displays?
if its for one monitor i would try running it on scart and doing the reset
then powering down
then rebooting with just HDMI connected and seeing what it does?0 -
First of all I only had it connected to the Samsung with the AV cable, works fine, then I got a HDMI cable and tried to connect it with that, but it just refuses to work.
I tried it on the other tvs to try and find out if it was the PS3 or if it was the tv.
On the Samsung and 17" Alba, I have connected it with both the av cable and the hdmi cable and tried to change to hdmi manually, but it refuses to do that. I have connected with hdmi only and tried to connect automatically but again it refuses.
On the 22" Alba I just connect with the hdmi cable and everything works automatically as it should, all settings are changed automatically and works first time.
I am stumped. I don't think the tvs are faulty, they are both quite new, but I also know that the PS3 isn't faulty because it works on the other tv.
I wanted to connect it to the Samsung as that is actually a HD tv and with the PS3 being HD, that should in theory produce the best output for games and bluray etc. No good now though as I can't get the thing to connect!!!
Is there any major difference between AV and HD, I know picture quality will be different, but will games and bluray still play ok? (I don't actually have any games or blurays yet to test, I have played a few demo games and they were fine though)0 -
you want HDMI on a 42"
everything will play over scart but the picture/sound will be a lot poorer
right ihad it once on mine where it wouldnt give me 1080P
in the end IIRC did a did a 'restore default settings' via the PS3 menu and that fixed it0 -
Is it Samsung Series 5?0

Samsung Series 4.0

PS3 has display settings in the options.
It could be that the display is set to a particular resolution the PS3 that the Alba tv can read but the Samsung cannot. That may then mean the Samsung cannot read the signal.
Check the display settings on the PS3 and check which ones are selected - alternatively, I think there's an "auto" option so the PS3 should select whichever is best/available.
I've used mine on 3 tvs - proline 26", currently on a Hitachi 37" and have tried it on a LG 50". Displayed on all 3 and only the latter 2 are 1080p. The proline 26" is only 720p. Same cable in all cases.
