  • Hm, can't work out how.

    Tab 1 has the following

Dept Date Received More along here...

Department is a number, date received is a date.

    Tab 2

    Dept Mar10 Apr10 May10 Date last received
    100 -- 1
    0
    5
And this is the cell I must fill!
    115 -- 0
    1
    2

The numbers under the month headers are just counting the number of occurences on the previous page where the department number and month/year are the same.

So, how would your suggestion work?

  • You should be able to use IF for the department and MAX for the date...

Oh IC... You could still do what i did in the one I linked to but ref the formula to take its data from tab 1
  • Does that work?
  • Hm, it doesn't seem to work. On your spreadsheet, if you change the department to B, it doesn't work out the last date.

  • Strange ok give me a few mins sorry
  • Strangely if you type in the formula each time it does work on an induvidual basis.... so would work in your scenareo (if there is not too many?) but then the dept changes it fails... strange
  • There are currently 33, but it will expand to 250 ish in a few months time, so I can't type them all individually.

    Thanks for looking though :)

  • I'll PM if i get it... I like problems... good one!
  • I like problems too, but I think my employer will get a bit annoyed if I spend too long on this one. It's not an essential field, it's one I want :D
