Hello fellow moneysavers... :j
I Have used some kind of spreadsheet in one form or another to budget my self for a few years and my most recent one has been up and running for 6 months now and has proved most useful to me... So I have modified it to suit a stranger (made it look pretty and make sense) and spent last night writing some basic instructions and have decided to see if I can help others.
The spreadsheet requires excel 2007 and has quite a lot of functionality, a lot of which I could not find in any 'existing solutions' and I hope it can serve others as it serves me.
Once setup all you need do is input transactions as they happen and the spreadsheet will show you how your finances are looking accross multiple accounts / banks and also includes intergrated mortgage calculator which works off of the transaction input automatically.
I have not included loads of unneccersary graphs, I believe graphs to be personal... as in you make a graph of the data YOU want to see or other people to see. Therefore it is open for you to graph what data you wish. This also saves on processing time and file size. I usually delete graphs after they are used anyway.
I just wanted to share...
I hope this is of help to some people, it certainly helps me.
All I ask is that you respect that this spreadsheet is all of MY OWN WORK and that you do not reproduce, copy or use it in anything but a personal capacaty as per the disclamer included inside the spreadsheet.
A great deal of work testing and development has gone into it and I would like to improve it based on your feedback.
I welcome any comments / suggested improvements / requested functions... I will try to accomodats but as a PhD student with 2 young children I have very very little time as you might realise :rotfl: (so it may take a short while).
Kind regards,
Matthew :A

thread number 1157173
And thats been going for ages...
I am not trying to advertise which is what it specifically mentions in the rules... a donation and a charge is two different things entirely!?!0 -
So can a link be posted?
Thanks0 -
As other post.

Hmm, would you trust a spreadsheet from a stranger?Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

It is free...
it says DONATE... not use and PAY £££
!!!!!! I am offering something for free, and do not see the issue... ESPECIALLY since other members are freely allowed to have a DONATE button?
I can understand if you say you dont care but if you dont then why make a fuss?

This site is free from advertising. Posts on any board considered to be advertising goods, services and/or companies will be removed. We also do not allow advertising via PM
Examples of this can include anything from a specific sales post or a link to your own website in which you attempt to sell something to someone offering their holiday home to forum members. Unfortunately we cannot allow any advertising of any description no matter how honourable the intention.
This includes the Referrals Board (see below).
If you think you have a genuinely good deal please contact a Board Guide for the board you’d like to post it on. If they agree with you they’ll contact the MSE Team and it will be considered. Any final decision will be that of the MSE Team. Please do not question the response with the Board Guide."
This says SELL, definition of sell being an exchange or transaction is REQUIRED.
This is not a pyramid scheme or anything and would only be used to develop the sheet / pay for proper hosting if its popular etc...0 -

You're getting pretty shirty about it.. maybe there is more than meets the eye?
Look, I'm sorry, but as a new poster on here, posting a thread about your wonderful spreadsheet which reads highly like a sales spiel (yes, I did see it says "donate" and I do appreciate the difference, but still...), when there are thousands of entirely free spreadsheets and accounts software (many of which are mentioned on this site in various forms, budgeting tools, calculators and the like etc) out there just seems suspicious, and people aren't likely to warm to you.Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012

I am an avid money saver myself and was very happy when I first came accross this website a few years back I was shocked to see I was doing many of the things Martin suggests and for some reason thought they where what 'everyone did' lol. Anyway I took some pointers too and have successfully managed to pay off all of my debts I built up over my undergraduate maths degree except interest free overdrafts (which I stooge off of). I am now on my PhD and am continuing to budget and plan my money to make it go as far as possible.
