what happens when we go abroad and visa cards are not accepted, only mastercards? i have had that problem before now. just because of the visa sponsorship you cant buy olympic tickets, doesn't mean mastercard has to be taken out of existence.[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0

I think this is totally disgusting - the olympics is "supposedly" about friendly competition and the fact the IOC & the London committe have allowed a commercial competition to use the Olympics like this is gross. What next? I know how about different nations refuse to compete against each other because they don't get along ... If the Americans and Iranians can get into the spirit so can Visa - SHAME ON YOU!!!0

i had a flex account at the time which is a visa, however if i couldn't withdraw money or use it as payment card, what do i do? it was back in 2005 when it was free with no charge and i didn't have a mastercard at the time.
however, i now have both a visa credit card and matercard credit card just incase as i am going back in july/august time.
they are mainly to help me build a strong credit score for a mortgage in the next year or so.[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0 -

Don't equate lack of acceptance at a shop with lack of acceptance at an ATM or a bank.
I await the "what if they don't have banks" question next...Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
This alternative olympic logo rather sums the whole thing up

3 weeks worth of money being carried around in a bag isn't a good thing to do anywhere, especially whilst in a foreign country. its much safer inbetween 4 walls than in a pocket. i did have some money with me, however i decided to not take £1000 worth to carry around. choice of travellers checks or a debit card, sensible option is a debit card. it was in lethbridge where i came across this problem, eventually finding a machine that would except it, vancouver and calgary was fine.[STRIKE]Beggars cant be choosers, but savers can![/STRIKE]That used to be the case :mad:0

By the same token, as Lloyd's TSB is a sponsor, will they only be accepting Lloyd's TSB Visa cards?43580

what a useless article! (expect for the typos )
basically register for spam from the olympics, no promise of tickets. you may as well be living under a rock if you will miss the announcement of when they go on sale. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Don't know why they can't just ask for an email address. What relevance is date of birth, gender or even address at this stage?0
