Where can I register my interest?

EDIT: Found the link for anyone who's interest:

Interesting to read this on the day I received at work a notification of changes to our card machine tariffs including a new extra charge for premium credit cards - the relevance here is that it is not permitted to discriminate against particular cards - although I suppose that is within the Visa and Mastercard brands.

  • If I were one of the Mastercard bosses, I would be getting my legal team to have a look at the monopolies and restrictive practices legislation.
Not nice either for someone who might struggle to get any more credit and only has a Mastercard currently.

Ultimately you don't need to accept Mastercard or any payment if you do not wish too. It is a bit rubbish- I notice Lloyds TSB advertising- will it only be Visa cards from them and HBOS then?

It's the reason they're refusing Mastercard that's galling, not the fact they're refusing them.

For example car dealerships refuse to take credit card payments altogether (or charge a percentage to cover the commission.) This is fair.

Not everywhere accepts Amex due to the size of the commission they charge. Not quite as fair, but understandable.

But to refuse Mastercard on the grounds of Visa being a sponsor?

-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • Although I have both Mastercard and Visa cards, I think I would make a point of paying by cheque or cash just for their brass necked cheek.
  • To be fair, tickets for the World Cup are generally only available to Mastercard holders because of the sponsorship there, so it's all swings and roundabouts.

I'll be watching the Olympics on the telly, that's IF I even want to watch it in the first place. So.... face? bovvered?

I didn't know that but I believe that's equally as wrong.
Soundss like a bit of tit-for-tat going on somewhere.
