I use kmplayer which can play music & video files.My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.0

Best Media Player on The PC is VLC, just too good reliable but Music player I'd say Windows Media Player or Itunes but most of the time I use the internet, only use my ipod when not on the pc.0

Great to hear this everyone. iTunes seems to be getting a load of support, of which I'm kind of surprised. Cause I hear that it's not so great on Windows all the time.

iTunes is slow and bloated on Windows, can't be bothered waiting 15 seconds for it to load up every time I want to listen to a song.
I use Winamp (lite). It really whips the llama's a$$.poppy100 -

VLC for video in Ubuntu, and Audacious for music, they work just fine0

I do prefer Amarok on Ubuntu. Setting global hotkeys with that player is easy.

Rhythmbox and VLC for me
(might change to amarok at the end of April when i switch to Ubuntu Lucid or Debian Lenny).
for hardware, my jailbroken ipod touch does most things i need it to do0 -
I use vlc and windows media player for videos, music i sometimes use zune in win 7 and on xp i use vlc and media player0

winamp / vlc player. Itunes lasted about 2 minutes on my hard drive before it was swiftly uninstalled. Told wife to use her own laptop if she wants to infect my PC with her ipod touch software
