Morning,
esmf73 why are you travelling up the M1 (sorry just being nosy)
Will catch up later J x
OH is in the army, so we live in an army quarter (rented) down south, but have our own house up north. OH probably coming out next spring, but I need to get the DS s into school in September, so am going up to see round their schools. DS1 is a "challenge" so thought it best to have a look and speak to the possible new head face to face!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Hi everyone - a late start for me. DH had to leave in a rush to do some emergency plumbing for a friend who had sprung a leak (the house, not the friend!) so it's all been frantic and now it's all calm and I'm enjoying a cup of coffee.
The weather is gorgeous here - sunny, blue skies and a rising temperature. We've been forecast around 17 degrees today. Sadly, I just do not have enough washing to make up a load so I shan't be able to make the most of the good drying conditions.
Redruby - bamboo is great for cover. It grows fast but doesn't give that dense look that some shrubs and trees do, and it makes a lovely rustling sound in the breeze, so is good for muffling sound, too. Hope you are nice and settled in your new home now.
MSD - I love frogs and, sadly, for the first time in years, I don't have a pond. In our last house I know that by now the Great Annual Frog Orgy will probably have taken place in my old pond - it used to have at least thirty couples (and triples quite often!) all croaking away doing what they do best! They used to be so noisy during this 'event' that they would keep us awake at night.
JC - I hope you can find the right painkillers.
Well, I have a dental appointment this afternoon (my first French treatment - I'm having a crown, courtesy of Monsieur Lacoste - no relation, although it will be a 'designer' crown!), then I shall do my food shopping. I should have done it on Friday but I really couldn't be bothered with it for some reason. It was a good thing really, because we had plenty of food in, once I started to look, and I will have saved some pennies by using up what we already had.
Tonight's dinner will be decided once I've been shopping but I fancy a curry so will probably do that.
Anyway, I'd better go and do some work.
Hope you are all having a good day.

so being incredibly naughty and posting :shhh:
Breakfast was toast
Lunch will be a shop bought sandwich
Dinner will be chicken, broccoli and jacket potato
My house is an absolute wreck, so desparately need to do some cleaning when I get home, and make some cakes for the tin.
JackieO - sorry you feel bad about your DGD, for what it's worth I'm sending you a (((((hug)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Morning all.
Got a cold and a runny nose today, have had it over the weekend to. Not a major one, but annoying more than anything else.
MSD - You must have posted about the tadpoles on a day I didn't read last week. Perhaps I am alone on the thread in not liking frogs, but other than snakes, they are my worst nightmare!! When I moved into this house it was one of the questions I asked the previous owners, I'm sure they thought I was mad! Luckily I live on a modern housing estate with no ponds nearby, so hopefully I won't get any visitors!
JackieO - That must have been hard saying no, I know you do so much for your children and grandchildren. Hopefully Katie will understand, and start getting out of bed a bit earlier! :rotfl:
N9eav - totally know what you mean about alcohol and violence, our cells are always full after a Friday/Saturday night of people who have a drink and then have a fight. Don't understand it myself.
Sunnyday - your raised bed sounds very impressive. I keep trying to persuade my father in law to make me one, but so far no luck!!
Washing is out on the line, it will be ready in no time at all I'm sure as it is so blowy. I need to buy one of the wooden prop things that puts the line up high (its very saggy and nearly hits the floor when full of washing!), any ideas where to get one from?
Also need to do some hoovering, and general bits of tidying.
Have a great day.0 -

OMG just had gas and electric bills in £231 for electric and 281.75 for Gas
So much for having a new boiler! we never had a bill like that
When we had the old boiler it averaged out at £180 for the winter and it was on all the time - I really wish now I hadn't had it changed. Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted for a few days because I was cheesing myself off with my moaning, never mind everyone else.
BB - have you checked the readings - we were overcharged for gas after we changed providers because they had read the meter wrongly.
Jackie - I'm sure your granddaughter will be fine, she will know from talking to friends how lucky she is to have a grandma who is so helpful.
I'm taking another two days off work. I go to see the surgeon tomorrow and my abcess hasn't cleared up yet, neither have the dizzy spells. I need to clean the kitchen, throw out the recycling and do all the washing.
After that I shall look at the new book I got on celtic pattern quilting to see what I need to get. I love the designs you can make so I shall definitely give that a go.0 -
Morning Possums,
I've been a bit slack since we got back in posting on the Daily. I got out the habit of it while I was away. So I must do better.
It's DGS 5 th birthday today. We called him this morning. We're going up on Saturday as he's having a party. At Hungry Jack's would you believe. Gross. I reckon you can't beat home parties with all those cheesy games & home made food packed with sugar.
I've been washing windows and screens today. I also did the floors. I have to do a bit of baking tomorrow. For afternoon tea I had to resort to weet bix spread with butter & golden syrup.
Things are pretty grim. I made a pot of soup yesterday out of some sweet potatoes DH didn't even know we had. He was weeding one of his beds and discovered them.
Happy Birthday to anyone that has celebrated recently, and  to any new posters. Hope you all have a great Monday. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

It's rather grey here today. I'm a bit fed up at the moment. DH went to Cambridge yesterday with work and won't be back until Tues evening. DS2 started to cry when he left and continued on and off all evening. Then at half six this morning he and DS1 had a row over the toilet and both had an "accident" - I was not a happy bunny! I just hope that DS2 behaves at school, he tends to get in trouble at the beginning of the week (his teachers job share and he only gets into trouble from one of the teachers)
We were running so late this morning that we wnded up going by car rather than walking. I have however done a supermarket shop, our Sainsbugs is closed this week so I ended up at ASDA. We're going to the library after school, then the boys need to do some more work on their Easter Gardens for school.
I made some really nice Chocolate Brownies (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1223/bestever-brownies) yesterday. Dinner tonight is left over roast chicken in a stir fry.
HUGS to all that need them.0
