    Morning all

Slight improvement in the world of swish today I think but i'm still going to try and see my doctor today to get some painkillers for the joints :D I'm off work again - I was hoping to be back today but its just not happening :( but i know i'd be silly to even try it.

I need some advice from the green-fingered amongst you - I'd like to grow things with my DD but we don't have anywhere out the back to do it (dog) but I could have pots under the front window which would be in the sun from about 12. Can I grow tomatoes in pots? what about peppers (bell not chilli)? am I bit late to be thinking about this or can it still be done if I get my butt into gear?

Also thank you for posting about the meat on offer in Mr Ss (Diva possibly?) did my first on line order with them yesterday and got £100 worth of shopping for £60 :T tried out a few things in their basic range and got some easter eggs and some meat - slowly getting the freezer stocked up! I've been drooling at all the receipes for lamb lately - DH doesn't like lamb (he's fussy about meat in general) so I tend not to buy it but I do like a nice leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic wrapped in a slice of lemon peel and pushed into slits in the meat....Mmmmmmmm - Not sure the one I ordered is going to last until easter!

Hope everyone has a great day x

Diva I thought you were referring to jc's little John :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously we have got lots of Frogs around here and MIL has tadpoles in her pond.

Seedlings are doing well but the forecast is for frost tonight so I will put them to bed with a nice fleece or bubble wrap blanket.

Nothing planned today apart from a quick spit and polish of the house and then a nice calm baking day I think :D

The weekend was so manic I think I deserve a nice quiet day.

Love and Hugs to all and have a good day whatever you are up to x x

    Good Morning All,

Dreich and damp up here this morning. WM on (again!!! when will it end?) OH was late leaving this morning so I am a bit behind. Still enough time to come on here, though.

Work today then after school will make some soup and toddle off to Asda for some veggie Sos mix for sausage rolls for dinner to go with the soup. Need to get more organised over the next couple of days as the builders are in on Thrusday and Friday to do the snagging. That's not a euphymism!

Dive, I too am of the not batting an eyelid persuasion, nothing you do ever surprises me!:rotfl:
Redruby good luck with the phonecall.
Hugs to all the missing worried and poorly, have a lovely day.

    Morning Chums,
I have a bit of painting to do today,I have masked up the mirror and want to paint the surround frame light blue instead of the boring light brown it is at the moment, so a bit of undercoat today and maybe two coats tomorrow, and hey presto a new mirror to go into my porch.I have had this mirror since 1972 I only paid 7/6d for it and it has always hung by the front door in every house I have lived in and you automatically check your appearance just as you go out the door, and I took it down a couple of weeks ago to paint and really miss it .Every visitor I have had since then has said 'Oh where's your mirror gone' so its obviously part of me and my house.
Think I have just upset my DGD Katie. She phoned for me to give her a lift to placement this morning at 7.15. and as she doen't have to be there until 8.30. she is quite able to catch a bus.Her Mum said yesterday that I have got to make her take resposibility for getting up in the morning. She has got into a teenager's habit of leaving everything to the last minute and expecting to be given a lift instead of getting herself up in time .So I had to say no.I wouldn't mind, but I can see her Mum's point if she can lay in bed until the last minute knowing good old Granny will whiz round and get her to work on time then she will.I felt rotten saying no as I very rarely say no to the grandkids, but mum said no its making her lazy, and I won't have her taking advantage of you.I normally do the school run three days a week so Monday and Thursdays are my 'day's off'
So poor old Katie will have to get a wriggle on if she doen't want to be late today.
Still feel a bit mean, though I know her Mum is right.
Last night two of the boys were a real hoot .One of them Jack(10) has been doing Greek myths at school, and he has been telling his smaller brother Mikey (5) all about it,so the pair of them decided to put a little show on to tell us the stories.Jack was brilliant as Hades, king of the underworld and Mikey was a hoot as Medusa complete with wriggling snakes in his hair .They really got into it, and I love seeing children acting out their stories.Jack would make a great acotor as he immerses himself in each roll.He made little tickets to invite his Mum,dad and myself to watch their performance .He has obviously been taking Greek theatre very seriously at school. Their middle brother henry thought it was 'girlie drivel' and would rather play on his DS so he didn't take part. But we had a great time watching the pair of them and had to applaude at the right times:D

Well fingers crossed big Frank will be sprung today from the hospita,l but he has got to take it easy for awhile and no more choclate of goodies to get his weight down a bit .Bless him that will be a toughie as he adores chocolate but still you don't get many warnings from your body when it coms to your heart .
DD said she will come for coffee later on as she has the day off today so that will be nice.then tonight its last night of my Uni course on the reform of Government and the rise of the radical movement .Sounds a bit dry and boring but it really isn't I have a blue badge walk in London this Saturday with my tutor and class and I'm looking forward to that as we will be strolling around Islington and Spa fields where the radicals were thick on the ground in the mid 19th century.
DGS Danny's last day of filming at Pinewood today which I know his Mum will be pleased about as he works very long hours when he is there and its a good two hours driving each way from north Kent and he has to be there by 8.00 in the morning. The show he is working on is called 'The Whole Nine Yard's with Vernon Kay and it goes out on 17 April on t.v. so although I will be in the Cotswolds then i will try to watch it danny will miss it as he is going to New York with his girlfriend for a week but I expect his Mum will sky+ it for him.
Well time to get a move on as I feel the need for some serious coffee and toast to get my motor running.
have a good day everyone it looks as though its going to turn out nice and sunny for a change
    Cheers JackieO x

    Good Morning OSers,

How nice to see so many up & about so early each day. I have dreadful insomnia & despite being awake for literally hours each night I'm still up early. I love the mornings and after my one 'treat' coffee feel able to tackle a few chores.

Tadpoles! wow. My b'friend & I went in search of lambs y'day & spent about 15mins parked by a field watching these gorgeous, gangly, floppy eared things jumping around & being totally innocent.

Washing on the line - I try to do it during the money saving night hours (during the insomnia phase). Anyway, sun is trying hard, so should dry or at least smell fresh.

Off to drop off some Avon catalogues (I'm the local Avon Lady) & then to local churchyard where I'm doing a voluntary long term project of recording where all the gravestones are. Sounds a bit morbid, but I enjoy it & it really helps all those folks looking for ancestors etc.

Have a happy day everyone & special thoughts for all who are finding life a bit difficult at the moment. Remember 'this too shall pass'.

I know its a bit odd but I would love that! I used to love reading gravestones when I was younger and wondering about the people who laid there - its quite fascinating!

RedRuby – how is your daughter today?
Jellybaby21 – I often feel guilty too. With my work there’s no opportunity for overtime anyway, but OH quite often manages to rustle some up. I think I saw a signature on this forum that I always try to remember – something like a thrifty housewife is worth more than a good income.
MSD – doesn’t everybody feed tadpoles? My Dad used to let me have little bucket with frog spawn in. when they were grown we popped them in the pond (he had some fish that would eat them, I think). Wish I had a pond…

We had a really busy weekend. Training with Puppy-Dog on Saturday – he’s learning a couple of new commands at the moment so need to fit in some practice this week. Managed to plant my potatoes and repot a couple of houseplants that were looking a bit squashed. Also did lots of baking – bakewell tart (using up a slightly out of date packet of almonds), jam tarts, mince pies (using up the last of the mincemeat), and a victoria sponge. Half the bakewell tart and the jam tarts are already gone, and I suspect the mince pies are too – they were destined for work but I left them on the dinner table. Since the dog is in there unattended at the moment, the chance of them still being there when I get home is pretty slim!

We’ve got the official valuation of our house happening this afternoon so hopefully that will be a reasonable price. Because it’s shared ownership we have to get a paid valuation and we’re not allowed to market the house for more than that, so if it’s low we’ll struggle to get a big enough deposit on the new house. But if it’s too high the people who we hope will buy it won’t be able to afford it, so we’ll have to put it on the open market. It’s all very complicated!

OSiness today – making curry for dinner (only half OS – chicken left over from yesterday, curry sauce from a jar). OH sent to work with his packed lunch (including a slice of HM cake). Saved the carcass from yesterday’s roast so will look up instructions for making stock with that. Hopefully will get chance to make some acceptance cards – already got 5 weddings this year! Fortunately all very different circles of friends so I can get away with the same outfit at all of them. Having said that I might treat myself to something new for Dad’s wedding…

    Hugs to all,

    Morning All :hello:,

Monday again :( Won't moan about work again, but it's becoming a real struggle...Had a very busy weekend so the time went even faster than normal.

Have a couple of things to do on my list today, I need to find a driving school as I need to take some lessons. I haven't driven for over 10 years now, since I was told after busting my knee that it wouldn't be safe for me to do so. However, I saw a physio last year who basically told me that he'd never heard anything so stupid, so I need to get myself sorted so I don't have to rely on DH so much. Thing is, I don't really know how to go about finding a decnt priced driving school - the costs all look astronomical to me! Anyway, that's my project for today.

OS wise, need to wash the bed clothes today and sort out my meal plan properly. DH went and did the big Tesco shop on Friday and got quite a few bargains (unfortunately so many bargains that they don't all fit in the freezer!) so I need to do a bit of rejigging with the plan :o Hey ho at least it means he's finally getting an eye for a bargain!

Have a lovely day, hugs all round xx

Morning all.............((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

My goodness its a blowy morning, already blown the sheet off the line once, have been out and re-pegged it!!

Early visit to the Drs re OH's blood pressure, it was high again this morning, sensible Dr said OH should borrow the portable monitor from the surgery and check his BP for a week. Dr is reluctant to put him on medication because of his 'little problem' so is going to refer him to the specialist depending on the results of his weeks BP tests. OH is on medication designed to prevent his BP falling too low and sending him into one of his dizzy attacks, it may be that it needs adjusting.

Just having a cuppa before starting the bedrooms, might put the towels in to wash as its so blustery they might dry.

    Offsky, see y'all later.................
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Morning peeps

sunny spells here this morning but there is a strong wind and i`m told that rain is forecast later. Hope that the forecast is wrong as i had planned to start the mammoth task of fence painting today.

Yesterday i made the raised bed for the bottom of the garden :ji spent a couple of hours measuring and sawing wood and then came the drilling etc, DH was chief teamaker but he did help with some nails and tightening some screws towards the end of the build. its all down and looks nice but getting it level was a real bu**er!

I plan on making another one at some stage but doubt that it will be in time for planting this year as i have so many other things to do and i`ve also run out of wood. To make the bed i used the timbers which had been previously used to lower the kitchen ceiling so it is very good thick wood, i dread to think of the cost if i had bought it  it was a great motivator knowing that it was all :money:

I`ve already watered the plants and scrubbed the kitchen, the houndies have been walked and are snoozing away happilly and the bm is on with an extra loaf as DH has demolished the one that was ready this morning for toast and lunchtime sandwiches. I need to pop to the shops and take some dry cleaning in and also fetch little oldies repeat prescription from the vets and then what happens next depepnds on the weather.

I shall either be fence painting or potting up some more seeds and i definitely need to sort out the greenhouse and shed, after all that the house needs a good s&s and a run around with the hoover, hope that my back holds out after yesterday but surprisingly my legs feel fine.:D

Diva - I remember your post about the frogs, i seem to think that your fed them last years too or am i imagining things? Next doors pond is absolutely stuffed with them and when i`m down the garden i can hear them all the time.

NicLou - How is Charlie? Bet you`re hands are full :D

Right i`ll move my ample behind and sort out the stuff for the shops.

    Have a great Monday peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
