    Evening ladies,

I won't stay for long so you can carry on with your dribbling.
jo - thanks for that post on making money from blog - really helpful. just need to do it. I'm worried that new readers will be put off by the adverts though as it's already quite cluttered. When adding them to blogger, are they easy to do?
Paula - our mutual FB friend - the spoon man. I met him last march on a stag do in benidorm, how classy. My mate from college was getting married and invited me on his stag do, turns out he was friends with the spoon man too. Oh how I wish I was there now, this time exactly, last March, me and the spoon man were very drunk.

Whoops forgot the reason I came on here in the first place.

I have to share it, it's a big one so get comfortable....

remeber this post by me on the last thread
    "
I've decided to face reality and get balances for all my debt.......
Hi my name is cagneuk and I am a debtaholic.
    Acceptance is the first step.
    Unsecured debt 1 £1,040
    Unsecured debt 2 £3,730
Secured debt £28,763.07 (of which I can pay back 95% without facing an ERC)
Mortgage - well, one step at a time. "

    on the first one,
Originally, we were getting interest charged but then we worked with the CCC who advised us to get the debt defaulted to a debt agency where they would freeze the interest and all payments would be reducing the debt, that was when it was a lot higher, so over the last couple of years we've been dealing with it, slowly paying back £60 per month.

Well, I phoned them yesterday with the balance at £1040 and explained with my wife on maternity leave we were finding it harder to meet our commitments and that for now I wanted to reduce my payments to the minimum allowed of £5 per month. They weren't happy and said they minimum they would accept is £40, not possible I said, anyway cut a long story, I enquired if they would be willing to offer a settlement figure if we could somehow get the money from somewhere like my parents (or my wife's bonus - shhh!) and they said that if I could, to clear the debt they would accept £844 to clear it.
'well' I said, 'my direct debit of £60 is coming out of the bank to pay you tomorrow (as in today) how would that work would that be £844 plus the £60?'
'No,' she replied, 'that would take it down to £784'
'Ok' I said, 'I'll have to discuss this with my parents to see if they are in a position to help me.'
Pretty good saving I thought £1040 to £844, that is butlins money sorted for the kids.

So today I checked my bank and the DD had been taken so I just rang them to confirm spoke to a lady who said,
'nothing through here but can take a couple of days, would that be £1040 you wish to settle???'
NO, NO, NO. I explained about yesterdays call and that the agreement was £784.
'Oh sorry,' she said, 'so that would be the balance of £724 you wish to pay?'
'Sorry,' I said, 'missed that, £724????'
'Yes, could you pay that now?'
'Well no but I could tonight when I see my parents'
    long story cut shorter...
No phone call from them at agreed time so I phoned them and spoke to a third person. explained the situation and that the previous advisor had said £724? (shy bairns etc) and she said:
'£724 that's right, becasue the £60 Direct debit is coming, can you pay that now'
'As it happens.' I said 'I can pay that from my wife's account if that's ok' ' Can I just confirm 100% that that is the debt settled?'
'Absolutely, 100%, your account is settled. You will recieve confirmation in writing in the next 7 days.

Do you want to finish this jumper for me? It's for OH, he keeps asking when I'll finish it but I'm stuck. Swap you for a moving-in Sulkie (and potential Sulkie cat, if I can do one without immediately pronouncing it stupid and going in a big huff).
