Mad at myself AND Travelodge

I feel for the OP, although she's admitted the fault is hers what with clicking on the wrong date, why the complete lack of customer service? Would it really be that difficult for Travelodge to pull a few strings etc etc. She's already offered to pay the difference above the 'saver' rate. Sadly, this is a common thing these days, companies hiding behind 'Terms and Conditions'. A lesson learned sazzybum about vino and t'internet but the bigger lesson to learn is never, ever, give Travelodge any more of your money.
Edit to say i hope your sons passing out parade goes well and you get to see it okay!!0 -

Thank you Rhysdad. The second chappie on the phone said 'oh well I'll see what we can do as it's a special occasion' hence the customer services supposed to be getting in touch 'within 48 hours' but as my expectations weren't that high....I wasn't disappointed.
You're right about not going to them again, although this is thr first time I've had a ''chardonnay slip up'' with them. Believe me- lesson well learnt!:o
I'm definitely not going to let it spoil my...sorry HIS day though. It's going to be great (if the snow stops that is):DRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

I respect the OP's balanced view of the situation- wish we had more like that round here!
One thing that puzzles me £45- OK that's not full peak-time whack but is it a saver rate? Sounds like the actual price for the night in question. Have I missed something or is it just times and prices moving on without me (am I getting that old?)0 -

That was the price...I don't know if it was maybe because I booked a family room rather than a double, because my younger son is possibly getting away on leave from HIS barracks and coming down-hence the bigger room.
Although when I stayed there before it was £39 just for the double.
They're now quoting £70 for the family room for the Thursday, but won't let me pay the extra £25 to make it up to the full rate.
Thank goodness this will be the last time I'm having to do all this though

there is no way £45 can be a saver rate, as their website is currently showing the room on the date you originally booked as still being available for £32 on saver rate, so you cant have been charged a higher amount a few days ago, compared to now, as TL rates go up the nearer you get to your arrival date
All room are charged at the same rate, you dont pay more for a family room, compared to a double

OP, don't book things when drunk.
Travelodge, don't promise to phone someone within 48 hours and then not do it - it's a sign of true incompetence and pathetic customer service.

I wonder if I went on now, what rate they'd quote me.....
Ah well there's plenty of hotels round about, so going to be a hotel booking session tonight (minus the chardonnay):DRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

i feel the the OP but expect nothing less of TL. i was foolish enough to stay in December the room was missing furniture but as not the bed etc i accepted it, worse nights stay ever. took 2 months to address my complaint to say i said everything was fine despite moving rooms at 2am, i will never use them again.
back to your problem is there not a better chain near by who you can book with,0 -

when i checked, the date you wanted was coming up at about £70 per night
your invoice should state which rate you booked, have you checked it?
