Mad at myself AND Travelodge

Went onto Travelodges website last night to book a room at their Guildford one, as I'm going down to oldest sons passout parade. Had stayed there before, in November for youngest sons passing out, and had been majorly happy with it.
Anyway...through my OWN stupidity (and probably having a couple of chardonnays too many) I put the 16th April instead of the 15th. Only noticed when they text me  Immediately tried to amend it, and it said 'no rooms available'. Phoned them, and got a girl who said 'no rooms available, and no refund'..Okay-I thought, that was a 45 quid lesson...only go onto the interwebz when you're fully sober. Went back onto the website, entered the CORRECT date, lo and behold PLENTY of rooms available, albeit at a more expensive rate.
Phoned them back got a chappie -who was very sympathetic, but said there was nothing I could do...I asked if I could pay the extra 25 pounds and get it for the Thursday, the price wasn't an issue, but he said that as I'd booked at the 'saver' rate (had I? I just booked it...so flipping stupid) there was no way it could be amended, as there were no 'saver' room for the Thursday. I replied with' I don't care about a saver rate, let me give you the extra and pay full price'...but no, I'll have to pay the 70 quid, BUT...hey I can go to the hotel anytime in the next 12 months on the 45 quid I'd paid earlier...live 600 miles away, and no more children to give to Queen and country, so not going to happen.
He has said that he's spoken to customer services, who'll contact me within 48 hours, but I won't hold my breath.
Apologies for the long post, I'm mad at myself for being so stupid, but a bit mad at this policy! I would welcome any suggestions as to where to go from here. Think it's going to be a case of waving bye bye to the 45 pounds and re booking.
And believe me-lesson learned. NEVER let a woman that has had a few near the internet with her bank card!:o

I feel for your anger, but unfortunately from what I remember about this website, it does tell you that the saver rates are completely non-refundable, it seems they are being good offering you to take that saver day another day in the year....though of course not very useful when you live 600 miles away!! Cant you keep that booking for the 16th as well and just stay an extra night, get your monies worth?0

That did cross my mind croc-but unfortunately son passes out on the 16th, then we have to set out for home straightaway, because we get home, then he goes to Blandford on the Sunday-plus we have 5 cats, and a friend is staying to look after them...don't really want to prey on her kindness another 24 hours. Thank you for the thoughts though
I'm probably madder at myself than with Travelodge, although I'm not trying to get a refund-in fact I want to give them MORE money for the Thursday if I could swap, and they won't take it....I guess it's just one of these things.:)Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. I think you may be pleasantly surprised here! Please let us know the outcome."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

For what it is worth. I booked a cheapie for last week after having had a few (this is not peculiar to ladies!) and entered the wrong date (a day before) in my diary. When I arrived the day before the correct booking, the guy on reception was most sympathetic and managed to alter the booking without any cost to me. I won't mention the location in case the guy broke their rules, but I was obviously very pleased.
Karma points to the receptionist and terryw continues to be TL's number one fan."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

£45 sounds a bit steep to be a saver rate.
Sounds more like the regular rate which you can cancel.
Have you tried to change it online via your travelodge account?
You will be able to see if you can cancel the room or not.
You will also be able to book a room on the correct date.
Ask the computer directly and cut out the middleman.0 -

I mentioned previously that I had went straight back on, and tried to amend, but it said 'no rooms available' but there was if I started from the beginning and rebooked-hence the chappie saying the saver rate. I can't do anything with it online.
I prob will have to rebook for the Thursday, but they own't let me use the 45 pounds I've already paid.
It was for a family room, hence the 'steepness' of the price, as my other son is getting leave and joining us for the event.
Thanks for the advice thoughRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

Maybe ask if you can use a £45 credit at another branch next time?0

I've tried this with travellodge to no avail. Not interested in allowing any change.0

I'm sorry terry-I meant to update..
Suffice to say I'm glad I didn't hold my breath..or i'd be 6 ft under. Not a peep, no email, phone call-nothing.
I don't know whether to just turn up, and try bluff it, or what...I'd just probably feel it was cheating..I don't know..:oRuaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
