Which is the best new small car?

It seems to me that the Yaris and the Mazda are totally different class of car?
I can understand someone above saying why pay the £4k extra - what are you getting for that - but well, heart sometimes has to rule head and if every time you get in it, you smile and feel happy in a car for that extra money (and over several years ownership it comes down to only a couple of quid a week doesnt it)............0 -

Of course, finances permitting and assuming you care enough about cars for that to be your daily source of pleasure! I couldn't care less as long as I get from A to B safely and reliably in a car that's not going to give me any trouble. My surplus £4k would be spent on holiday travel, the memories of which would give me a far warmer glow!!!0 -
If not too late I suggest the Mitsubishi Colt. It is the most spacious small car around and all you'll need is the 1.0 litre engine, which is a cracker.0

spark is a cute car to have but when it comes to performance .......it has some draw backs compared with its rivals ..... but it won't come for your budget and the space is not so big enough for five or six ............0

I dont no much about cars so I wont tell you which car is best, all I will say is choose a car that you want and like and dont bother about what other people say are good/rubbish cars etc you are the one that has to drive it. Goodluck hope you find the right car for youHelen224488 wrote: »I would like to buy a new small car, so far I have 6k saved up. I took the Kia Picanto strike out for test drive but am not sure as so many people seem to make fun of the Picanto. I am currently saving an additional £250 per month so by end July will have enough to buy the strike out right. I also like Toyota Yaris but not sure with all re calls.
I would like a small 4 door with air con. Now I am thinking of Mazda 2 Tamura special edition which is £11375 but 0% interest with 50% deposit. So I could put down deposit of £5723 & pay £157 per month over 36 months then the car would be mine.
Or I could spend 6K on a second hand car, would I get a one or two year old small car for 6K? Anyone own a Mazda 2?
So my options are:
Buy a new or second hand small car for around 6-7k in cash now.
Or
Pay 50% deposit & aprox £150 per month for next 36 months.
I can't afford any more than £150 per month as I work term time only & salary not that high.
What do you think?:)

Today I had a test drive in Hyundi i10 & I loved it. I am quite keen to buy one but there is a 12 week waiting list! I am thinking of the Comfort as the basic model Classic does not have central locking from the key. It is only £615 more & you also get alloy wheels, elec front & back windows & a few other extras.
Just have to decide upon colour. I like blue or grey but can't decide.
It is such a nippy city car & much better drive than the Kia picanto strike which I test drived a few weeks ago.

have you considered one of these ??

( and no thats not me or anyone i know selling it !!)
the car has done a big chunk of it's deprecation. £35 road tax a year and a lot more car for your money .
Father in Law serviced one this week and was very impressed

I test drove a i10, a Grande Punto, a Picanto, Twingo and Corsa.
We were nearly tempted by the i10 but having read reviews about the poor economy it stopped us buying one!0 -
I would not buy a Picanto pretty poor build quality should come with a free trailer to throw the bits in which fall off, Toyota Yaris has not been the subject of a recall but if you worried avoid it, Mazda looks pretty good but £11,000+ for what is a small car seems a lot when you can get the 5 door with aircon non special addition for less than £10,000.
I have a year old yaris, they were recalled but it only took about an hour they gave me a £20 m&s voucher as a thankyou and I am very happy with my yaris. Nice and nippy. My mum just bought an 11 months old chevrolet aveo for £5k but I wouldn't swop.0 -
If you haven't bought your car yet have a look at the Suzuki Swift. They're cheap to buy, look good and fun to drive. You may get a good deal as well as they are bringing out a new model later this year.
My wife has had one for 3 1/2 years and it's been great. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
