That made me laugh as we can never grill bacon without the smoke alarm going off.
Morning all
Raining here, just got up, done nothing yet, OH has put some washing in the dryer and has popped to the shops, hes got an eye test at 12 so will get ready and have a wander round in the rain.

:hello: Good morning all!
I haven't got back into the swing of posting again yet
but am reading, and thinking of and praying for everyone who's ill or unhappy, or has sick family or friends.
Gemmabuckle - your post made me chuckle, as DH set off the smoke alarm in one of the motel rooms we stayed in in NZ - the toast wasn't even burnt either! The staff are obviously used to it, as no one took a blind bit of notice.
I've caught up on all the washing now :j but there still seems to be quite a lot of paper to sort out for recycling as there was quite a bit of mail while we were away - mostly things like catalogues etc, so I have to decide which, if any, I'm likely to want to order anything from...for instance, I love looking at the White House catalogue but we just don't have that sort of lifestyle
I get all sorts of odd catalogues because I subscribe to Good Housekeeping (at least, I suppose that's why, unless it's just because I'm on the Book People mailing list.)
Ooh, I meant to tell you....in one of the towns we stayed in in New Zealand (Kaikoura, where people go to see whales and dolphins), there is one waste collection per week, of recycleable stuff ONLY. Anything else, you have to arrange to get rid of yourself!
All for now, time to go to the baker's and papershop and collect my meds from the chemist.
Hope everyone has a good day xx0 -
Morning all
Happy Birthday Essexgirl:bdaycake:Have a lovely day.
Just a quick post as puppy Charlie is asleep so want to get on and do something without a puppy swinging from my trouser hem. He has just climbed inside my handbag and fallen asleep ontop of all my stuff - can't be comfy! Fingers crossed he doesn't have any accidents:eek:
No change with DF's Mum - she is still in intensive care and very poorly indeed, she is having bad hallucinations which are very distressing for her and DF (and family). DF is hangng in there but obviously very stressed, it is hard to know what to say or do to make it easier.
Thanks for the good wishes and prayers for them all (and thanks Diva for the kind words!)
Right will check back later, have a good day all

Afternoon.
Essex-girl - Happy Birthday.
jc -sorry you're poorly (have missed what with as not properly read for a few days). Hope you feel better soon.
nic - best wishes to your DF's mum
NPM - hope Noah was ok at music.
I've had a right old week with poorly animals. Had to take my cat to the vets as she was off her food and very quiet. Thought it was a problem with her teeth, which it was, but she also had more serious symptoms which led vet to suspect over-active thyroid. Very expensive trip, although puss seems to be lots better now with tablets and meds, and is back to eating.
Took foster cat to her vets today for claws to be clipped, she had a fit on the way there. She was doing so well, as not had one since before Christmas. Think they're noise related, she is deaf but seems to get jumpy with certain sounds. She started being sick in car so kids put newspaper under her, and after she finished they scrunched it up, and I think thats what set her off. Anyway, home now, and she has finally settled after wandering round for a bit.
Might try for some baking today, not done any for a while.
Have a great day.0 -
Afternoon all
hope everyone is well
joyfull - that's really sweet of you - do stay it is a really friendly board
I've learnt loads since I've been here
ladyshopper - awwh, cats aren't easy patients! Hope they are get better soon
flutterbyuk - I love cold pizza, it's is the breakfast of champions! I had rice crispie cakes and haribo
n9eav - hope your eye infection clears up soon
hugs to those MIA
Not much going on here, I was off work yesterday waiting for a courier delivery so repainted the windowsill, rehung the curtains, did two loads of laundry, changed the linen, moved furniture around, made more sugar flowers, did the washing up, made chicken keivs, made rice crispie cakes, hoovered, clenaed the bathroom and washed the kitchen floor. I don;t have much to do today, other than make pizza for tea. I've just been up to the depot to collect a parcel and I'm at work at the moment. OH is going to train me up on his ion-trap instrument this afternoon - so it looks like a romantic evening over a mass spectrometer.
Wedding cake now looks a little better sitting on its boards and not on paper on the tables. I took one of the three-month stored dark ones into work last week and people were very pleased with it. I just want the fruit cake out of the house! :rotfl:
Right - must go and finish up here, have a good day all, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

move your mouse over the shoe and it shows you the back, they are much higher than I thought!!
I am also not having that tiara now:o I have decided I would rather have a big vintage hair clip like this
http://www.glitzysecrets.com/tropical-dream-hair-clip.html
or this
http://www.glitzysecrets.com/flower-of-paradise-hair-clip.html
just need my earrings and ostrich feather wrap and am good to go:D
oh and my underwear:o:rotfl:0 -
Thanks celyn. Luckily the puss that is poorly is the one that loves attention and being stroked, so even though I am forcing tablets down her throat twice a day she forgives me straight away as long as I fuss her! If it was the other one I wouldn't even be able to catch him, let alone give him tablets!! I was tired just reading what you did yesterday, you always seem to get so much done whether you are at work or not!
Lemon drizzle cake made here. Licked the bowl (must be done!!) and had a tiny piece, will try and resist any more as been really good on diet all week!0 -
NPM, those are all gorgeous! I could never walk in those shoes though
I love pretty shoes but my feet don't like them at all, so it's usually flatties for me. I'm going to a wedding in July and goodness knows what I shall put on my feet!
Smokybabe - Sorry this has been such a hard week for you. I've been thinking of you x
Ladyshopper - Glad your puss is eating again.
nic1lou2 - It hadn't really "clicked" with me that your friend's Mum was ill. I'm so sorry. My MIL has had hallucinations a few times, when she's had a UTI - so horrid for the patient, and so distressing for the family who can't help. I remember one time she was convinced that the hospital ward was actually her home, but that her DH had turned it into a hostel for asylum-seekers to bring in some extra money. If anyone tried to gently explain to her that she was ill and in hospital she was furious, and refused to believe them. Also she kept seeing all sorts of animals - very strange. On a much happier note, how long have you had Charlie? I take it that's him in your avatar. He looks sweet.
Has CRANKY40 posted lately? I was wondering how she is, as well as Penny_Pincher.0 -
