At the risk of turning this into a book thread re Susan Lewis, I enjoyed The Mill House, but found Lost Innocence a little uncomfortable as the Mum of teenagers. Would def read more though.

Morning! What a lot of food for thought (I haven't been on mse since yesterday morning).... that was a great point about overpaying like mad while the high APRs are killing you .... and another little one, Hypno, in what you said about the debt being gone by the time you want to move - while I was applying for my new mortgage, I found out that I couldn't have got it, even tho its less than my present one, if the Northern Rock loan had still been in existence :eek: It shocked me, I have to say.

I stepped back a bit yesterday too - I wanted to get out of the house, and I'd seen an advert from Milletts, about microfleeces, so I actually went and bought one! £10, in a lovely summer colour. And then I bought two vest tops that went with it :eek::eek: but they were from Primark and cost a total of £6 :rotfl:

Love your lounging in the sun from yesterday - can you have more of the same today?

Morning KC - yes I am plannng on another day in the garden doing very little. It is not often I get the chance, so I am making the most of it.

Chicken is marinading in the fridge for later, salad is chopped and veggies ready for roasting. School uniform is in the wash for DS and that'll about do I reckon. Shorts are on, bikini top is on, suncream is on.......and a pack of magnums is in the freezer, and enough points have been allocated for me to indulge later on :cool::cool::cool::cool:

I am definitely a summer person (apart from loving to go skiing in winter of course!).

Oh, and re the mortgage, I was lucky in that when I applied for the mortgage after OH left, even with the debt I had/have I was able to get what I needed. However, you never know when the goalposts will be moved again so I need to minimise my risk before I apply for my next one.

Even if I don't move, my fixed rate comes to an end in 2013, so I need to be able to apply for the decent offers at that time regardless, so whatever happens, I need to put myself financially in a very good position over the next couple of years.

Lovely! That sounds really great. As I read that, I hopped out to the kitchen to put the water heater on - it'd be great to sit outside, even if I have to sit in the shade most of the time, so the first order of business is to wash the patio furniture, which needs doing anyway before I move - its not been used since August 08 (not 09!!!) :eek: and its got algae all over it :eek::o:o:o honestly, the confessions I make on this forum

I did my patio stuff yesterday KC, put the brolly up and everything! My BBQ is unreachable at the back of the garage, so that is a job for another day, but we can, at least, have lunch and dinner outside if the fancy takes us!

When the garden is finished, we will pressure wash the patio slabs which will make a big difference - but there is no point in doing so until the other work is done.

Have a lovely sunny day ladies! I'm working today but am off Wed/Thur and hope it will still be nice then. Hey, you know it wont and so do I ....bui as one of life's eternal optimists then I can dream!!!!

Usually we get the sunny days when I am stuck in my cupboard sized office, so it is lovely to have a nice weekend for a change!

Have just come in for a few mins respite.....it is gorgeously summery out there :cool: I am liberally applying the factor 30, so am being sensible, but even so, I need a little while indoors before I go back outside and continue cooking.

DS has gone to the beach with a friend, so goodness knows when I will see him, but hey, that's what sunny days are all about, so hurrah for them while they last!!
