Morning all - hope you are all well. The sun is out this morning so hopefully it will start to warm up, because it has been freeeeeezing for the last few days!
Another long day today - after work we are watching the parade for NCFC to celebrate their promotion, which starts at 6....so goodness knows what time we will get home, but it will be a nice thing to do if the weather holds.
Scratching, banking, and porridge first though....then off to earn a living.
Hope you all have a good day xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Have a good day, enjoy the parade! My future nephew in law will no doubt be stood along side you somewhere too :T0

Hypno, you are an inspiration on all subjects, well done on the weight loss, and the blossoming garden!
DDFW, have you been tested for hypothoyroidism (where the thyroid doesn't work properly)? The symptoms include weight gain (totally unrelated to food intake), lethargy, depression, and more. Hope you soon feel better.
Satchmo xxWhat would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Hi El.....the wardrobe thing is just another branch of the decluttering - except for me, it involved a fair bit of "personal rediscovery" as I am in the process of trying to find where I am going and *who* I want to be, if that makes sense, so is also quite an emotional thing. And of course I am finally losing weight, so I can look at things I haven't been able to fit into for some time!
As for the sugar, well, the best thing to do is to switch to a low GI diet and follow it - porridge for breakfast, slow release sugars throughout the day etc, rather than the quick fix of high GI foods, and sweets, etc.
Since I have been on WW, I am eating a more balanced, lower GI diet as a matter of course, and along with the decaf coffee, I do find that my energy levels are regulating themselves a little, and that I am not craving that caffeine or sugar rush so often just to get me through.
Of course, I still fancy sugar from time to time, so will have a packet of fruit pastilles or whatever, but it is a want not a need so can be processed differently by my brain, if that makes sense!
If you want to go "cold turkey" though - Atkins is sugar free.......difficult to do if you are veggie, but if you want to kick the sugar habit fast, then I find it works very well.......if I am having a bad time with my yeast intolerance, which in turn can make me feel pretty bleurgh, then 2 weeks of Atkins type eating gets me back on track, although I find it difficult to sustain for the long long term (mind you, I managed 2 years of it at one point, so it can be done!).Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Morning! I find I'm in a constant struggle with sugar, sadly. Even years of healthy eating can be undone - I do the best I can but I accept I'll always be a sugar addict, even if I'm not eating it - and I am, right now, tho its more or less under control.
The decluttering is great - for me, there are two elements to it - the easy one is "I have a lot of space for one person, I won't think about whether I want this, I'll just hold onto it" - that kind of stuff can go pretty easily. But the other is sentimental - the table that was bought for 2/6- in Paddy's Market by my grandad, the straw hat that I wore to Buckingham Palace to get my gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award (just put that in the charity shop bag yesterday) the aluminium frying pan that my dad took a power drill to (cos it was so dirty) when I went to my first student house (ditto for the charity bag).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I am getting better at the emotional side of decluttering, but I know I still have a long way to go (and a lot of clutter to get rid of!). We are starting to declutter again and are saving for a high sleeper for DS with cupboards and desk underneath - nothing on our freecycle at the mo - plus I would buy a new mattress anyway.
His current bed is going to a friend and I'm having his bookcase for my "office", but he has lots of games that he is now growing out of so will be carbooting as much as we can over the summer to get some Xmas savings.
Now clothes, that is a different matter. I have some "new" bits, but lots of old, for working on cars, decorating, and I can never bear to throw things away, just in case.

The internet tends to keep me awake:D:rotfl: But i am beginning to get into a better pattern- or i will do when all these student exams are out of the way. lol
Waves to Hypno and congrats on weight loss.xBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Hypno,
Brilliant weight reduction!
I have been reading up about my thyroid condition and it appears the only thing that will do permanent weight reduction for me is running...Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0
