Hi Hypno, I haven't been following your diary daily so forgive me if You have spoken about this on your diary before now. I know you are on a tight budget and you are dealing with your situation on your own now. What was it that made you decide to keep going as you are and not go down the DMP route or similar? Do you have any regrets? I am finding things tight right now, but I am still hesitant to change anything. I dont want to give up on my situation right now, I want to see it through, I want to just pay it off as I am now. Is that being selfish to my dd. Am I being foolish? Am I mad! The thing is I want to be true to myself and the way I feel I am being. How are you getting on, and any advice/comments would be appreciated . You are held in high esteem on these forums and rightly so for the challenges you have overcome! Take careMy debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

The sun is shining......and I am sitting with my cup of decaf coffee and a horrid headache......bah. It'll be worth it, though, for better sleep etc.
PaF - 4 years ago I looked very seriously at a DMP. We had over £100k of debt and were struggling big time to pay it. I spoke to both Payplan and CCCS and could see that by doing a DMP we would instantly take pressure off outselves. In fact, while we still lived at the "house from hell" we even spoke to DebtFreeDirect
Our reason for not doing a DMP was purely because of my job. It requires me to have a squeaky clean credit record with no CCJs or defaults. Obviously, a DMP would have caused damage to my credit rating that would mean I couldn't work, which would then bring about a whole load of other problems!
So, I am pretty sure that if I was in a different job, we would have gone down that route. Not being able to get credit for 6 years didn't bother me. I wanted to be able to move house but could put that on hold for 6 years (as I have done anyway, until the debt is paid off), and as I said before I think it would have taken a lot of pressure off us sooner.
But, at the end of the day, of course I have no regrets about not doing a DMP - I wouldn't be in this job if I did. Also, in some ways, the fact that it was "our responsibility", even with the high APRs etc, meant that I was very focused about paying it (as the three million volumes of my diary have shown!), and I may, as a result, end up paying it sooner as a result of trying harder, if that makes sense!
There is no right answer. I have to say, that if I were you, I would seriously consider it to take the pressure off you. BUT what I would suggest sooner rather than later is that you speak to payplan and cccs just for a chat. There is no obligation to take things any further with them, but I just found talking my options through them made things a lot clearer in my own mind.

How's the aching muscles, Sally? I hope you have a good day at work.
My day is not too busy today elliemoo - I did nothing much yesterday so need to catch up on a bit of housework, and have some paperwork that I really need to do today. I also want to start tidying the garden up a bit while the sun is shining, as I never got round to that last weekend.
10ps on the scratches only for me today, and £9 matched betting profit in, which will be transferred to the debt/savings pot. Other than that, nothing to report so far!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. I don't know if it was so good then, in a way. Cash back credit cards and cash back sites like quidco & rpoints were all new ideas then and relatively small scale.
I was on the old style & green boards a lot more then.0
